Scuba Travel Worldwide Diving Holidays

Catch of the Week – 30th April

Now the dust cloud is settling, diving begins again!

Egypt: The liveaboards have been back out at sea, north and south, and reveling in long days, flat seas and fabulous diving.  The big fish are active and being sighted thick and fast.  Amid the hammerheads in St Johns and grey reefs at the Brothers,  the most surprising sighting is perhaps the manta that are frequenting local Sharm sites.  In particular, the folks at Oxygene Emperor and Camel Dive have reported strong sightings especially at the Gardens- a sure sign the summer months are nearly upon us!

Philippines: Exotic resort in Malapasuca has one eye firmly on conservation at all times.  Not content to just promote good diving practices and conservation every step of the way, they have recently engaged on a dive site and beach clean up.   The best bit about the whole experience… there was relatively little garbage that needed cleaning up so thumbs up from everyone!

Indonesia: The lush reefs of Indonesia are a diver’s paradise but proof  that you can enjoy snorkeling too.  Wakatobi have just posted video and pics of taken by an avid snorkeler in resort.  What did he see?  Ghost pipefish, blue ringed octopus, pepper morays and nothing less than a frogfish (slowly!) walking across a seagrass bed.

Fly from Manchester, dive the South Red Sea

Scuba Travel launch Blue Seas with dedicated Manchester flights

In 2010 a flight schedule change made offering southern liveabaords with Manchester departures seemingly impossible.  Undeterred, Scuba Travel have risen to the challenge to ensure that everyone north and south can enjoy this gorgeous region of the Egyptian Red Sea.   We are thrilled to be able to offer customers Blue Seas as your dive platform for discovery with departures on a Thursday exclusively from Manchester airport.

Blue Seas sits at the head of the Blue Planet liveaboard fleet and is decked out with all the creature comforts today’s discerning diver expects including a large and luxuriant master cabin.  Sleek, she commands respect at any dive site.  And with the masterful team at her helm, you can dedicate a whole week of diving indulgence in the remote southern Red Sea.  Brothers, Daedalus, Rocky and St Johns… these are the hallowed reef systems that are teeming with big fish and bright soft corals.

Oxygene Tenerife is changing

Oxygene Tenerife have had a busy winter improving their facilities!

Oxygene Tenerife are in prime position on this sunny island – moments from all the sea front’s bars, restaurants and hot spots.  The centre has an excellent reputation for the outstanding levels of customer service and fun filled dives.  But they have also been busy this winter season extending their facilities for the 2010 summer.

The dive centre has a bright shiny new nitrox compressor offering speedy fills.  Alongside the new compressor there is a dedicated workshop for kit servicing.  The classroom too has been enlarged to make more room for everyone as well as being fitted out with projector and power points at the desks.

Lastly, Oxygene Tenerife are pleased to be able to offer all levels of BSAC trainer from entry level courses to Advanced Diver.  They are the only Premier BSAC centre in Tenerife as well as being a 5* PADI centre.  With more instructors than ever being able to teach PADI or BSAC courses, the choice is yours!  So Go Diving or Learn to Dive in Tenerife for a short haul holiday that will exceed your expectations.

Catch of the Week – 23rd April

With the volcano this week, it has not been a normal 7 days for divers!

Egypt:  It has been a strange week for those in Egypt.  With the Icelandic volcano spewing out ash, guests stuck in the Northern and southern Red Sea found their holidays extended.  Some got in a couple of extra dives whilst others took a chance to catch some rays and go snorkeling after their liveaboards ended.

We want to sincerely thank everyone for their understanding and patience both in the UK and in resort!  We are glad nearly everyone is home now and trips can resume as normal.

Maldives: For those people stuck in the Maldives, the water was alluring and plenty of folks got in some snorkeling, even if the no fly times made diving impossible.  And where better than the Maldives for snorkelers?  Around Kuredu watch the turtles swoop in and out of Kuredu Caves.  Manta do fly over the reef tops and can be found in as little as 5m and there is plenty of fish life on the house reef to keep you busy for hours.

Indonesia:  Whilst we in Europe were worrying about the impact the volcano had, in Indonesia it was business as usual far from the ash clouds.  The folks at Kima Bajo have been thrilled to see the frogfish begin their annual love dances!  Yes, mating time for these Indonesian masters of disguise.  Divers have watched enthralled as two frog fish pairs spend hours skirting each other.  The female slowly inflates as she gets ready to spawn, nudged by her male counterpart to the surface where the action really begins!  The show of a lifetime for sure.

Volcano Update

As of this morning UK airports have reopened for flights.  Long haul services are being prioritised but the airlines have yet to reach full normal schedule.

We are contacting all of our customers who have so far been stuck in resort to advise of their return details to the UK.  We are also speaking to everyone who is due to travel in the next few days.

A huge thanks to everyone for their patience during this unusual situation!
