Try a digital workshop with Duxy

If you pinned me down to the most photographically impressive time of the year in the Northern Red Sea, I would say mid June.Ras Mohammed and Tiran directly to the north and south of Sharm el Sheikh, are great all year round, but in mid summer they really come alive.At the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, and one of the jewels in the crown of Red Sea diving, lies Shark Reef and Yolanda. And here within the Ras Mohammed National Park are often encountered huge aggregations of Bohar Snapper, Barracudas and Batfish, amongst many other large schools of fish (and the occasional wandering pelagic!) for you to photograph. This is only one dive within the Ras Mohammed Park area though, and we will be looking at some of the equally impressive, but often lesser known highlights of this incredible reef system.

About an hours sail north from Sharm are the reefs of Tiran, four sea mounts just breaching the surface, within one of the most nutrient rich channels in the Red Sea. Gordon, Thomas, Woodhouse and Jackson, eponymously named after 19th Century British mapmakers. Tiran is a marine life extravaganza, and in the summer is the best place in the north to see turtles and sharks. If we are really lucky there are the elusive schools of Scalloped Hammerheads and occasionally even rarer toothy beasts! We will also get a chance to see some of my local personal favourite dive sites in and around Sharm, so we can get a broad spread of the incredible diversity this area has to offer. We will be based at one of the friendliest dive centres in Sharm famed for it’s apres dive scene, I know because I used to work there. After our dives I will give daily lectures and presentations on various underwater photographic topics, including how to correctly and creatively edit your photographs. Oonas Dive Club is situated at the northern end of Naama Bay close enough to walk into town, but far enough away to not be too bothered by the colourful Naama nightlife!
