9th July

A round up of the week’s sightings – 9th July

Egypt: Miss Nouran’s dedicated dive team know just where to find all the season’s hot spots – and all their hard work certainly pays off.  This week guests were treated to a manta, hammerheads, oceanic whiteips and 2 sightings of whalesharks!  A brilliant week at the Brothers everyone agreed and with sightings like that who could disagree.

Kima Bajo: One of our newest destinations, Oxygene Manado, is THE placce to head if you are into rare and unusual marine life.  Mandarin fish might be seldom seen elsewhere but in the Bunaken National Park there are literally hundreds and even seen in their most intimate moments – mating on the reef at dusk.  The guides were also very excited to find a pygmy sea horse that clearly was about to give birth.  He swollen belly gave him away… cameras will be primed to see if we can catch that on film

Malta: Oxygene Malta are spolit with a whole host of athmospheric wrecks covered in marine life to dive each and every day.  But a pleasant surprise alongside the more usual fish species was a massive torpedo ray seen at Devil’s Reef.  Everyone piled in for a closer look but be wary – these rays can kick out quite an electric charge so no touching!
