Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea

The words 'South Pacific' are filled with romance and excitement. Covering a massive expanse of sea and islands, Papua New Guinea sits just north of the equator, hovering over the Australian mainland. This is one of the last frontiers for divers and its rich waters are thronging with marine life against a lavish and rich backdrop. Above the waterline you will find island atolls, swamps, mountains and tropical rainforests. No two locations are quite the same and each area has its own individual tribes and cultures that make Papua New Guinea both fascinating and beautiful - and unforgettable.

No less than 3 seas converge around Papua New Guineas coastline, which helps explain just why this area is so rich in wildlife. Here the Bismark Sea, Solomon Sea and Coral Sea meet driving life-giving nutrients into the water. All manner of fish life gather here to feast. There are over 350 types of corals and over 900 fish species making Papua New Guinea a divers dream. Sharks sit at the top of the food chain with every kind of fish down the scale present on the reef, right down to the tiniest macro life. The dive sites are varied - from dramatic drop offs and swift drifts to gentle meanders along a reef top. It could not be better too for photographers with pristine reefs.
