Hurricane stands out in the Egyptian Red Sea - and not just because she is one of the few steel hulled vessels. Many Red Sea liveaboards are compared to Hurricane, but few are as enduringly popular. She has won the prestigious "Liveaboard of the Year" award no less than 3 times between 2004-2006 and fans of Hurricane often cite the superb diver comfort, thoughtful layout and highly experienced crew as the reasons they keep coming back year after year.

At 36m there is bags of space on board Hurricane. No detail was over looked when she was built and she is continually renovated to maintain the highest standards. There are 11 cabins in total spilt over the main and lower deck. The 4 main deck cabins are a mix of twin or double beds (with a bunk above). The lower deck cabins are all twins apart from the bow cabins, which have a double bed and bunk above. Cabins are allocated at the time of booking so do ask your travel consultant if you have a specific request. All have individual air con, en suite bathrooms, a fridge and safe box.

You will instantly recognise what has become the Tornado Marine Fleet signature design. The dining and saloon areas are divided to provide optimum comfort at all stages of the trip. Upstairs opens up into the AC saloon with the bar, flat screen and seating area. Outside there is a seated deck (ideal for your post dive tales), the upper sun deck and loungers and jacuzzi. Down on the dive deck extras include an air gun for cameras, high pressure gas bending facilities (including trimix), nitrox compressor and gear storage. The steel hull and low dive platform make Hurricane a stable ride in even the bumpiest of weather and entry and exits are easy. Hurricane has it all - and it is easy to see just why divers fall in love with her.

The crew/cook were very considerate of guests’ dietary requirements and there was a good range of food choices over the week. As a vegetarian I was looked after better than on the Emperor Elite Jon & Kate

04 March 2013

The crew was an excellent example of efficiency and hard work. They were encouraging, kind and gave attention to our happiness and comfort. Both Sameh and Yasser are still passionate about and happy to dive. They are exceedingly knowledgeable about the sites they took us to and very good at spotting the wrasses, eels, dolphins and other big thrills Lee & Denise

Guides and Crew all excellent, guides were there to supervise when it was needed (Thistlegorm etc) but happy to let you do your own thing when wanted to on easier dives. Guides and crew all good fun and made it a great trip! Angus & Parvandeep

A super week with fantastic diving. The marine life was spectacular and I particularly enjoyed The Barge and meeting 'George' the Moray eel. The corals inside The Kingston were gorgeous and I loved photographing the lionfish. I will be back to dive the Red Sea again. All the crew were friendly and they provided an excellent service - getting help with my fins and equipment is something I will now expect from dive buddies back at Stoney Cove! Anna and Ahmed were exceptional dive guides. Tony Stephenson

This was my first live aboard, it was great :) All the crew were very nice and also the food was great. It was such a lovely week :) Megan Salmon

Another great week in the Red Sea diving the wrecks and reefs. Plenty of photo opportunities. Pleased to be reacquainted with George at The Barge - first met him in 2003. Still one of my favourite Red Sea dive sites. This time some very large scorpion fish and big crocodile fish. Sadly, no diving with dolphins on this trip. Maybe next time! Last dive on the Thistlegorm was very special: no current, great visibility and our group of three seemed to have the ship to ourselves! Pod of small belugas on the way to Shark Reef and Yolande was the icing on the cake. As ever, the crew have been magnificent: always ready to help; smiles on their faces whatever; and the food was fantastic. Dive guides - thank you for facilitating a great trip. David White

Fantastic week aboard the Hurricane. As a non diver I was well looked after as well. The trip was extra special for Mark and myself as we were celebrating 30 years together. The crew surprised us with decorating the room for dinner and the lights were dimmed and out came a huge cake with candles made by the chef. Tears started to flow! Thank you so much guys for our special time. We will be back - you never know Anna might persuade me to do a try dive next time!! Mark & Tracey Wadsworth

Wow! What a trip. Fabulous. Everything was just great. The diving was superb and it was an honour to dive with Reda and Sam. Hurricane was in much better shape than in last November. The crew were always helpful and the food was as ever excellent. As a veteran of 13 trips with Scubatravel and 8 aboard tornado fleet boats, I can honestly say that this trip was one of the best. I must do it again. And one of the highlights was Ian pointing out a parrot fish to me! Norm Donachie

18 February 2013

This is the third trip with the Tornado fleet and as twice before a very relaxing time with the boat in excellent conditions. The whole crew was very friendly and helpful and the guides were very knowledgeable. Andrew Thwaites

18 February 2013

Boat fantastic as usual, we are never disappointed and will return again and again. Staff as always very helpful and willing to help in any way, dive guides know their stuff. Lovely grub and I'm sure I've put on loads of weight, but don't care food delicious. Good healthy well balanced diet. Deb & Jeff Hickman

13 February 2013

HP as always on the Tornado fleet the guides and crew are excellent! You cannot fault anything that they do nothing is too much trouble and always done with a smile and genuine care. If anyone disagrees with this comment i suggest that they take a good look at themselves before blaming others for their own failings. Everything is done for you before you can ask. The cabin is cleaned and lovely. We love the air freshener. Reda is the best guide that we have ever had. John & Julie HP

13 February 2013

The staff are lovely and very helpful. The cabin was spotless (although they could ease off on the air freshener!) Food brilliant and whatever you ask for they normally can't do enough to help/provide. Philippa

13 February 2013

05 November 2012

All very good. Friendly. Helpful. Very good at giving novice divers guidance and confidence David

05 November 2012

A good variety of food, well cooked and beautifully presented. Plenty of food at regular intervals. Fantastic hot chocolate at end of evening dive. Claire

05 November 2012

Fab service from all of the crew and dive guides, everyone friendly and working as a team. Really good briefings every day by Sameh, loved the whole part, the bit of history and the quick run through at the end of the brief of what we all had to do. Great to have the choice of guided or unguided and guides were really flexible with us Helen, Andy & Caroline

22 October 2012

Hurricane staff are kind and helpful. Anna's guiding was great when we went with her on a number of dives! Diana Garside

17 September 2012

Hurricane crew guide (Val) and food five star but the boat really needs a facelift the ribs need new outboard motors. Stephen Cluff

17 September 2012

The food was outstanding and rooms were kept to a good standard Bunny

17 September 2012

Dropped at stern of Carnatic to be confronted by a young dolphin out to play. Rooting around for a piece of dead coral, the dolphin brought it across to drop in front of us. As soon as we went to retrieve it, it took it away from us as though it´s mine - you can´t have it. Getting tired of this game, he/she changed the rules. It was time to play Throw the Stick. Taking a piece of coral upwards, the dolphin let it go for us to retrieve it then for us to drop it for the dolphin to retrieve and play over and over again. Although shy at first to come too close, he/she circled ever nearer until confident enough to take the stick from the guide Val.s hand, All too soon we had run out of air. Our last views were of the dolphin circling our group on the safety stop wondiering why we no longer wanted to play! Graham

03 September 2012

The boat crew were wonderful. Always helpful, efficient on the ribs and kept the deck clean and clear. Also quick to help with putting kit on etc.. I have a large camera system and they always looked after it with care. The guides were helpful, available and very friendly. I didn't actually dive with Anna but Tamer was wonderful both underwater and above. The briefings were really excellent, full of helpful information. GIll McDonald

26 June 2012

The moment when Sameh presented me with the wide-angle lens I thought I'd lost forever. I am eternally grateful!!!! The last dive on Shark & Yolanda; not knowing where to look as there was so much to see in every direction! An awesome end to an awesome trip! Gill

28 November 2011

Now on our 5th Scuba Travel live-a-board, still never ceases to amaze how such quality food is produced in such a confined galley. The food as always is excellent. It has to be about the lion fish. To photograph them struggling with the current as much as us was a welcomed sight. Again photo opportunities in abundance. Des & Lee

28 November 2011

Fantastic crew, very friendly, very polite and always willing/ prepared to help you in any way they could. Both dive guides could not have done any more to make the trip a success, Reda professionalism is a credit to your company. Scott Waterman

28 November 2011

Amusing dive!!! Despite being told exactly where the wreck was it took us a while to find it. We were so distracted by the fish and the barge and the reef that we managed to miss a pod of dolphins directly behind us. I did wonder what the squeaking noise was... Great boat, loads of different areas to explore. The boat has a sundeck for basking in the sun on topdeck, tables and chairs on the level below for socialising. A well stocked bar with comfy couches. Plenty of space and a great atmosphere! Cabins are cleaned daily and comfortable. What more could you ask for? Susie

22 August 2011

This has been my (Morag's) first Live aboard, and won't be my last, the guides have been brilliant, with good, informative briefs about the dives, with excellent knowledge about currents and conditions of the water. I have also completed my Advanced Open Water on board this week, and have enjoyed this too! Though I do think that entering wrecks is not my forte! Also the crew of the Hurricane have been most helpful, the boat is clean, great food and snacks, and if it wasn't for the zodiac drivers I'd never get back into the boat! Craig & Morag

22 August 2011

Well well well, after perfection all week with a 5 star boat, quality dive deck, awesome food and the finest crew to sail the Red Sea, what could possibly top a top week! How about more perfect food, more perfect facilities, more happy crew and divers and throw in turtles, tuna and the odd hammerhead shark!!! Awesome is too weak a word for our stay. Jim & Jem

12 August 2011

As always the trip has been fantastic. Absolutely perfect. We have always travelled with Scuba Travel and will always continue to do so. Tornado boats are in a class of their own and Mike Ward deserves a medal for everything he does too! Amazing historical knowledge from Mike Ward. Owen
