Hurricane stands out in the Egyptian Red Sea - and not just because she is one of the few steel hulled vessels. Many Red Sea liveaboards are compared to Hurricane, but few are as enduringly popular. She has won the prestigious "Liveaboard of the Year" award no less than 3 times and in 2013 she has had a complete refit, including new air conditioning throughout, new plumbing and new teak decks. Fans of Hurricane often cite the superb diver comfort, thoughtful layout and highly experienced crew as the reasons they keep coming back year after year.

At 36m there is bags of space on board Hurricane. No detail was over looked when she was built and she is continually renovated to maintain the highest standards. There are 11 cabins in total spilt over the main and lower deck. The 4 main deck cabins are a mix of twin or double beds (with a bunk above). The lower deck cabins are all twins apart from the bow cabins, which have a double bed and bunk above. Cabins are allocated at the time of booking so do ask your travel consultant if you have a specific request. All have individual air con, en suite bathrooms, a fridge and safe box.

You will instantly recognise what has become the Tornado Marine Fleet signature design. The dining and saloon areas are divided to provide optimum comfort at all stages of the trip. Upstairs opens up into the AC saloon with the bar, flat screen and seating area. Outside there is a seated deck (ideal for your post dive tales), the upper sun deck and loungers and jacuzzi. Down on the dive deck extras include an air gun for cameras, high pressure gas bending facilities (including trimix), nitrox compressor and gear storage. The steel hull and low dive platform make Hurricane a stable ride in even the bumpiest of weather and entry and exits are easy. Hurricane has it all - and it is easy to see just why divers fall in love with her.

A few words about your fabulous 'Simply The Best' itinerary on the Hurricane last week! Yet again though you guys and the Tornado fleet - I had the time of my life! As with 'Wrecks and Reefs' on the Whirlwind last year, no detail was overlooked by either the boats crew or guides. From the minute we set foot onboard, the attention to our itinerary, welfare and how to maximise every single dive was second to none. 'D' (Dickon) and Yasser were passionate about what we would see (especially D whose love of sea and all its life was all so evident) and they seemed to blend at one with the sea and its currents when checking them or taking us to find Hammerheads in the deep blue off the magnificent Daedalus reef. The sites of the Brother Islands, Daedalus and Elphinstone were wonderful and I will never forget all 22 of us hanging from the Hurricane's stern line at Littke Brother as an oceanic white tip swam up inspecting us. My heart was in my mouth and I never smiled so much into my reg as I did then. Penny

Both guides were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful, especially as I was at times a little under confident with my skills when it came to strong currents! The crew were just great, always there when you needed some help to get into or out of a wetsuit or rib, thanks. Bev

Absolutely fantastic trip. The hurricane is everything a diver could ask for, the food was excellent, the cabins are comfortable and the crew are fantastic. The Dive guides, Yasser and D showed us the best that the Red Sea has to offer, Oceanic Whitetips, Hammer Heads, Threshers, Manta's and even a Whale Shark. Top class diving and A Class service. Guides managed to accommodate the varied requests/demands of a large, disparate group. The two guides have different guiding styles, sufficient for varying diver preferences. Their knowledge of sites was excellent and their interest in and capability to point out things of interest was much appreciated. The sailors were clearly skilled at boat handling, which gave me confidence and the mechanics seemingly worked magic with the various challenges that the boat presented them with. The remainder of the crew were very hospitable, helpful without needing to be asked and charming. The positive team atmosphere was positive to be around. Carol Walker
