If relaxation is number one when it comes to your diving holiday in the Red Sea then make a beeline for Dahab. This sleepy village is famed for its relaxed and laid back approach to life. Surrounded by the stark Sinai desert mountains, the startling blue waters edging the coastline invite you to dip your toes in the Red Sea. The Bedouin Moon is a peaceful hotel nestled about 2km north of Dahab's centre with the reef on their doorstep. It's easy to understand why Bedouin Moon and Reef 2000 are such firm favourites for UK holiday makers diving Dahab's reefs and deep water ranges.
Bedouin Moon is intimate with only 26 rooms and prides itself on the friendly welcome and local charm that comes as standard. The rooms are a mix of sea and mountain view with a balcony or terrace to enjoy the view. The sea view rooms are only 30m from the shoreline so you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the Red Sea all the way to Saudi! All have air con and a private bathroom. The Bedouin touch is evident in the hotels inviting decor.
There is a restaurant and bar on site serving both international and Middle Eastern cuisine. There is a weekly BBQ around the pool - also a popular a meeting point at the end of the day for the obligatory sun downer. The gardens provide cool shelter on a hot summer's day. Dahab is a focal point for yoga and courses can be arranged and taught in resort or book an appointment with the massage therapist. One thing is for sure - after a week at the Bedouin Moon you will be heading home relaxed and refreshed.

A scuba diving holiday in Dahab is quite different to any of the other Red Sea resorts. Yet this quaint fishing town measures up to the likes of Sharm, Hurgada and Marsa Alam. Dahab will suit anyone looking for a diving package in a laid back atmosphere or with a preference for shore diving. This is a great place to learn to dive. Dive sites are all easily accessible and with minimal transfers. The macro life is the special highlight of this region although there are big fish sightings each year so you never quite know what you will find. Perched on the edge of the continent, there are steep walls, arches, caverns and the famous Blue Hole to keep even the most demanding technical diver happy.
Reef 2000 are the on site dive centre in your resort and have all the convenience of being right to hand throughout your stay. The warm welcome is second to none and in the relaxed atmosphere, you can learn to dive, take your training all the way to Divemaster or even try your hand at technical courses. Children are well catered for with the Bubblemaker programme (aged 8+). Classroom sessions can be completed at the dive centre before taking the plunge in the pool or off the shore. Reef 2000 are also a full IANTD training facility.

Most dive sites are accessed as shore dives but this is shore diving made easy. Each day you will be whisked away by jeep to the many dive sites north and south of Dahab. The crew will assist with kitting up so entry and exit is hassle free. Two dives are usually planned each day with a night diving scheduled on demand. To access Ras Abu Galum there is even the option to take a camel up to this remote dive site (local charge applies). From Dahab you can also travel down to Sharm to board the day boats heading to Thistlegorm (special trip).

Our second time at the Bedouin Moon - even better than the first (air-con helped!) - loved the relaxed and simple but efficient atmosphere and of course the whole family enjoyed wonderful diving and snorkeling. The rather dilapidated appearance of Dahab seems to add to its charm and we encountered only helpful, friendly people. Will be back! Stephanie Carter
