Combining a shorebased holiday with a dive package is an absolute must and Sharm has an absolute wealth of the Red Sea's top dive sites. The Straits of Tiran - Gordon, Woodhouse, Jackson and Thomas - are well known for their fun drift dives, lush coral gardens and thronging fish life. Turtles, red anemone, groupers and even hammerheads can be found here. Ras Mohammed forms the local Marine Park, whose wall dives are dramatic and daring. Swirls of barracuda, batfish, snapper and napoleons - these are just some of the regular sightings. Wreck divers can weave through the likes of the Thistlegorm and Dunraven while tekkies can plunge natural canyons. The local dive sites are no less impressive.
