Pygmy sea horses are undoubtedly a highlight and are often spotted hiding amongst the sea fans, tails curled tight. Frog fish litter the reef alongside other more usual camouflage fish. Mandarin fish are amongst the brightest, rainbow coloured occupants of the reef and familiar favourites with the dive guides, along with blue ringed octopus. Thanks to the plunging walls that surround Cebu, larger fish can also be found. Deep water channels are used by migrating whalesharks and threshers are the star attraction at Malapascua alongside hammerheads. Such unrivaled beauty should not be missed.
