Our East Coast Safari is a 10 night safari filled with animal encounters, the like of which you would normally only dream of. Immerse Yourself Safaris are intimate with every aspect of this adrenalin fueled journey. From the moment youre met at the airport to the actual dives, the very name of which gets your blood pumping. Sodwana Bay with not only its pristine coral reefs, but also frequented by whale sharks, and the Aliwal Shoal which is home to the tiger shark, seen here without the need for a cage. Ragged tooth sharks cruise in the shallows, dozing occasionally or being cleaned. Drift diving and RIB entries are the norm here. Peppered between are the game drives into the Hluhluwe and Ubizane Game Reserve. Your stay at the Sodwana Bay Lodge, Zululand Tree Lodge and Selborne hotel will be most comfortable and ensure that you are feeling refreshed and ready for the next action packed day.
Tours last 12 days, with 10 nights spent in beautiful tree lodges and a 4* hotel. The whole African adventure is split over 11 dives and 4 games drives and a new group departs once a month. I loved the trip and will be recommending it to my diving friends as a must do. The mix of diving and game drives was just right and broke up the long journey between Sodwana Bay and Aliwal Shoal. The staff were excellent and very helpful in all the locations. The trip was very well organised and put together with the avid diving traveller in mind capturing the best of both worlds, diving and safari’s. Many thanks to Scuba Travel and especially Franseau. This was quite simply a sensational holiday which exceeded our expectations on every level. Having done a number of trips with Scuba Travel we have come to expect a high standard of holiday and this trip really delivered! My trip to South Africa was one of the best trips I have ever been on. I can't think of many other trips where I could get charged by an elephant, have my underwater strobe bitten by a shark, dive with 4m long tiger sharks, jump off a 170m high cliff, and cage dive with great whites! The general experience was fantastic, I would rate this trip as one of the best holidays I have been on, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else!!Once again, thanks for an amazing holiday. This is an example of a typical week on the East Coast Safari. This itinerary is subject to change according to prevailing weather conditions and to seek out the best diving conditions for any given day.
Day 1Overnight flight from London to Johannesburg via Dubai with Emirates Airlines.
Day 2
Fly from Johannesburg to Durban. On arrival Durban you will be transferred to the Zululand Tree Lodge.
Day 3
The day starts with a game drive in the Ubizane Game reserve in search of the big 5, followed by a transfer to Sodwana Bay Lodge.
Day 4 - 5
During these days you will complete 2 dives per day at the famous Sodwana Bay, in the afternoons there will be the option to join excursions to Lake Sibaya or go horse riding.
Day 6
The day starts with a dive at Sodwana Bay followed by a transfer back to the Ubizane Game Reserve and the Zululand Tree Lodge. In the afternoon there is a Game drive.
Day 7
A morning game drive followed by an overland transfer to Selborne Hotel in Umkomaas.
Day 8
2 dives at Aliwal Shoals with an optional excursion in the afternoon.
Days 9 - 10
2 dives at Aliwal Shoals with Tiger sharks.
Day 11
Transfer to Durban airport for you connecting flight to Johannesburg, your flight back to London is overnight via Dubai.
Day 12
Arrive back in the UK.
