Utila is the starting point for your Honduan adventure. Start the week as you mean to go on as one lavish reef after another unfolds before you. Blackish Point, Old House, Ted's Point... these are just some of the special places to visit around this tiny island. Visit Roatan's most famous sites - Mary's Place, Taviana and Connie's Dream. Nurse sharks rest while barracuda, snapper and tangs dart in their hundreds above the reef top. Bat fish casually cruise the reef. Turtles appear for their daily feed. Toadfish, blennies and even frog fish can be found by the eagle eyed. Nor are there just reef dives on offer. Both Utila and Roatan boats fabulous wreck dives. Enjoy the superb viz and warm water as you explore the decks of the Aquilla, Halliburton or Odyssey. These wrecks are now smothered in the corals and sponges so distinctive of the area so will please fish lovers as much as metal heads. All the while the crew will keep their eyes peeled for the "boiling" water that gives away whalesharks feeding beneath the surface.
The Honduras Discovery will appeal to any diver or snorkeler looking for a whaleshark sighting. Whilst we cannot guarantee sightings, this is commonly recognised as being one of the best places to look for these elusive creatures. The diving is varied though and with wrecks and reefs on the agenda, no two dives are quite the same. If you want to escape the day boats and see more of what the area has to offer, then the deep and thrilling Cocos seamounts will hit the mark. Many of the dive sites are well sheltered from currents but there are some sites where some experience of drift diving is helpful. With up to 5 dives a day too, diving in Honduras has never been more rewarding than on this itinerary. Think you have seen everything the Caribbean has to offer? Think again! Let the magic unfurl before you in Honduras.

This is a typical example of the Honduras Discovery itinerary. The schedule is subject to change according to prevailing weather conditions and is only given as a example of what you would usually encounter during your holiday.
Day 1
Depending on your flight arrangements, you may require an overnight prior to making the final flight into Utila. On arrival at Utila airport , you will then be met and transferred to your liveaboard in the afternoon where you can then settle into your cabin. Dinner is served and the Captain will give a welcome briefing.
Day 2
The week's diving begins apace in Utila with your check dive. There are 4 day dives and a night dive planned for the schedule so once the check dive is complete, it is off to Old House. There are few currents here and it is a great intro to the kind of diving that is to come in Utila. The marine life is splendid and good for large grouper, barracuda and midnight parrot fish. Blackish Point is only a short boat ride away where a massive school of snapper can be found and perhaps a nurse shark, resting on the bottom. Duppy Waters is a shallow coral garden so ideal afternoon dive. Eagle rays and sting rays are the highlight here but the swarm of blue tang is also incredibly pretty. There will be a night dive after dinner.
Day 3
Wake up in the morning at the remote Coco's Sea mounts. These sea mounts are remote and out of the range of most day divers. Relatively little is still known about these mounts so there is the thrill of adventure to compliment the pristine diving. The whole day and night will be spent here. Massive balls of fish can be seen - bar jacks, horse eye jacks, barracudas and even lion fish. Watch out for dolphins and other pelagics visiting the mounts.
Day 4
Dive again at the sea mounts for a morning adrenalin shot before the boat moves off north to Roatan. Whilst in this area the boat will watch out for signs of whalesharks. Mary's Place is one of the most famous dive sites in this area. The lush reef is broken through by crevasses and tunnels - awesome photo ops. Pirates Points is excellent for macro (rough box crabs) but also good for turtles. Be on the look out for sharks too here. There will then be a night dive after dinner.
Day 5
Staying in Roatan go for a drift dive on Caribe Point followed by a dive at Fort Cay wall. This is one of the best spots on Roatan to look for pelagics as the reef drops dramatically away. Big gorgonians and sponges are also found here. In the afternoon dive at Calvin's Place to look for sea horses. Dive into the crack here and you find a wide tunnel that opens up before you with whip corals. Missing Link experiences a current upwelling that draws huge numbers of fish in, especially bat fish, trigger fish and blue chromis. The night dive then completes the day.
Day 6
Start the morning at Taviana Wall where you always find turtles chomping away. The Wreck of the Aquilla is home to many large groupers and a resident green moray that likes to play. The boat will then head back towards Utila for the rest of the day's diving. Black Hills is always popular as a dive site with bat fish, creole wrasse and toadfish. The barracuda come in quite close and always look out for pelagics. Marlin, manta and sharks are all seen here. Ted's Point is your final day dive. Can you find the star gazer buried in the sand? Red lipped blennies and a black frog fish are other top spots. There is the final night dive of the week.
Day 7
Diving will finish in the morning at Cannery Bank. This is the undisputed place to find pelagics but the corals are also rather special, making this the ideal site to finish your diving with. The boat returns to harbour at approx 13:00. There is a farewell cocktail party in the evening and dinner is ashore at a local restaurant (not included).
Day 8
Wake up to breakfast before departing the boat around 8:00. You will then be transferred to the airport for your return journey home.
