Get your eye in, check your kit is working and warm up for your first dives in Sudan. This is just a taster of what is to come. The boat will sail south into Sudan where the serious photography starts. Sudan is famous for the pelagic action. Manta are seasonally seen at Meshrafi. And sharks can be found on many of the deep plateaus such as Angarosh, Shaab Ruumi and Sanganeb. Grey reef sharks abound and are the most commonly seen, languidly skirting the edges of each plateau. In blue water, hammerheads school and are joined by barracuda, snapper, surgeons and even the rare humphead parrotfish. Tiger sharks are encountered in Sudan. Hawksbill turtles are often found in Fury Shoal and Abington. Grab your wide angle for the dives on the stunning Umbria wreck, laden with her Second World War cargo. There are further wreck stops at the Blue Belt and Con Shelf. No matter where you dive, there are sponges, sea fans and hard corals a plenty with all manner of macro to snap. Returning to Egyptian waters and Port Galeb, no reef is left unturned on what can only be described as an exhilarating tour of the region.
