Egypt is well known to underwater photographers - the bio diversity, warm water and opulent reefs make it an enduringly popular option. But now Scuba Travel have teamed up with some of the UK's most famous underwater photographers to offer an underwater photography workshop with a difference - Sudan! Diving in Sudan not only equals the fantastic scenery underwater that you would expect in Egypt. It also boasts quiet reefs, remote, pristine dive sites and wrecks. Royal Evolution is the only boat that operates this ambitious itinerary and is worthy of her place as one of the Red Sea's premier liveaboards. Sailing down from Egypt to Sudan on a 2 week itinerary will give even the most hardy underwater photographer opportunities to get that perfect shot... or 500!

Departing from Port Galeb, Marsa Alam, this 13 night itinerary check dives in Fury Shoal, a stunning harden coral garden. From here, it is an overnight sail to St Johns. Get your eye in, check your kit is working and warm up for your first dives in Sudan. This is just a taster of what is to come. The boat will sail south into Sudan where the serious photography starts. Sudan is famous for the pelagic action. Manta are seasonally seen at Meshrafi. And sharks can be found on many of the deep plateaus such as Angarosh, Shaab Ruumi and Sanganeb. Grey reef sharks abound and are the most commonly seen, languidly skirting the edges of each plateau. In blue water, hammerheads school and are joined by barracuda, snapper, surgeons and even the rare humphead parrotfish. Tiger sharks are encountered in Sudan. Hawksbill turtles are often found in Fury Shoal and Abington. Grab your wide angle for the dives on the stunning Umbria wreck, laden with her Second World War cargo. There are further wreck stops at the Blue Belt and Con Shelf. No matter where you dive, there are sponges, sea fans and hard corals a plenty with all manner of macro to snap. Returning to Egyptian waters and Port Galeb, no reef is left unturned on what can only be described as an exhilarating tour of the region.

The Sudan Photography itinerary takes the pace of diving that bit slower than the normal itineraries. This is to give you more chance to repeat dive sites and spend all the time you need to get the ideal shot. With our on board photo pro, you will also benefit from a series of presentations and chances for 1:1 assistance. Once you have tried a special photo itinerary there is no going back! The improvement in your photography is enormous, for both SLR and compact users alike. And with Sudan as your backdrop, you are guaranteed images that stun.

Please note that entry visas are required by all nationalities to Egypt and Sudan. Currently your Egyptian visa is included in the cost of your holiday but the Sudanese visas and taxes are paid 395 euro per person paid locally. You will need to have 4 empty pages and no Israeli stamps. We will need a copy of the photo page of your passport prior to travel. There is a supplement to be paid at the time of booking for the main deck cabins. One of the main deck cabins is fully converted to be disabled friendly.
