Summer: 9am - 6pm
Winter: 10am - 4pm
Vivian Quarry has been carved out of a Slate Mountain side and is situated in the Heart of Snowdonia at Llanberis, North Wales , LL55 4TY and it has been run for the last 9 years by John Bushell who has recently retired and handed over the keys to myself, John Brumfitt (Padi Instructor, EFR Instructor, Assett Trained Technician). Consequently, I have now taken over the reigns and with a little help from my Father (John Brumfitt, SAA Instructor), will hopefully bring some more improvements to the Dive Centre.
Since we took over we have been busy tidying the Quarry up with the help of quite a few members, removing some trees around the kitting up area and quarry sides, installing new Kitting up bench‘s by the shop and at the Dive site and revamping the shop. A 3 metre long swim through has been added to the features and 3 Manikins (2 Quarry Men and a Nurse) will be submerged shortly. Trolleys are now available to take your equipment to the Dive Site, and the changing rooms have been painted.
Now that the New Year has started and Dive Calendars are being drawn up for the forth coming year , why not come and visit us. Our Centre is open 7 days a week during the summer and with sufficient numbers of divers we will remain open for Night Dives. (With a little notice we will even erect our Gazebo and supply a barbeque and put up lanterns along the footpath to guide you. We can arrange Treasure Hunts, Easter Egg Hunts, Fancy Dress Dives etc for your club.
Our life-time membership is just £10 and then £6 for each visit, for Instructors who have trainee‘s admission is free. Air is available to 300bar and water visibility is usually good. Last weekend I dived in 12-15m vis, just like the Red Sea however the 7 degrees water temp brought me down to earth.
The Depth is around 18.5 Metres with Dive Platforms at 6m and 9m.
Plans have been drawn up to manufacture and install a Confined Water Training Platform 1.6m deep with bench‘s so you can sit down and practise your skills, and then steps down into a 3m deep pool for further skills & Try Dives. We will also be fitting a Lift into the confined water for our Disabled Diver members to access the main water. This Platform will then be all fenced off within the main Quarry water with a Lockable Gate to access the deep blue and to keep the sharks out!!
Features that are in the Quarry that have not been mentioned are :- A Yacht, a Cabin Cruiser, Mining Trucks and Mining Artefacts, a Blast House (with an Alien ) a house, (currently out of bounds), Gnome Garden (Bring a Gnome and get a free air voucher ) , and of course a variety of life. (That don‘t need scuba !!) We are a Padi Dive Centre offering a good range of courses and we also run the RYA Power Boat Courses Level 1 & 2 at our Training Centre in Caernarfon
Our Shop, although small is well stocked and we are agents for most leading manufacturers and suppliers of diving equipment. The shop is backed up by Our Vivian Watersports Internet Shop. We will try our hardest to get your custom, and for the Quarry to succeed we do NEED YOUR CUSTOM, whatever dive equipment you require, (new or pre-owned) please ring us and we will endeavour to give you the best price, we can’t survive as a Dive Centre on the Fees charged for admission alone, and we don‘t want a Beautiful Quarry like Vivian being closed for future generations of divers.
