Jardines Aggressor liveaboard Cuba

The Jardines Aggressor 1 opens up an exciting new diving destination - Cuba. Now as part of the Cuba Travel Program you can explore this magical island both above and below the water. Your holiday to Cuba not only includes 7 nights on board the excellent Jardines Aggressor 1, diving the pristine Jardines de la Reina National Park, but also 2 action packed nights in Havana. With Aggressor excellence, attention to detail and customer service throughout your trip, the time has come to dive Cuba. Don't delay!

There are 10 cabins on the Jardines Aggressor, sleeping 20 people. There are 2 master cabins on the main deck with picture windows, with beds that can be arranged as either a twin or queen double. Downstairs in the lower deck are the 8 deluxe cabins - these have a twin bed arrangement. Each cabin has its own private bathroom with a toilet and shower. All have air conditioning. The Jardines Aggressor 1 has a central safe for any personal items that you wish to lock away during your cruise.

The Aggressor fleet has earned its reputation for excellence and on board comfort. The menu is always popular! Start your day with a hot breakfast, tropical fruit and cereal. Lunches are served buffet style in the main deck saloon. And then in the evening enjoy the freshly prepared table service. The homemade deserts are a must! And of course, all drinks are included in your package on board the liveaboard. Please note: whilst every effort is made, certain special dietary and beverage requests may not be available due to the remote nature of this location.

Between dives there is plenty of relaxing space. On the main deck you find a roomy, air conditioned salon. Ideal for presentations! The dive deck is also n this level, with large storage lockers for each diver and space to kit up. Nitrox is available but must be prepaid - please talk to your travel consultant at the time of booking. Head upstairs for the sun deck complete with a hot tub, shaded area , lounge and dining area, stereo, CD player (has an IPod plug-in), a complete photo center with a digital video and still photo editing computer.

All staterooms are air-conditioned and fitted with private toilets, showers and sinks, with hairdryers in each stateroom. Linens are changed mid-week, by request, and fresh towels are placed in each stateroom as needed.

Each of our destinations that are open stringently follow the local Covid-19 requirements and protocols for our adventures. We also build on these with Clean, Refresh and Sanitize programs. All of our staff undergo frequent temperature checks and health monitoring. While we encourage all of our staff to get a vaccination against Covid-19 when available, it is a very personal choice that we respect. This same standard is applied to our guests that are travelling with us since our first destination reopened in July of 2020.

Protocols for a Suspected Case of COVID-19

Each Aggressor Adventure destination has established a local professional medical support team to advise them should a staff member or guest become ill and develop a fever or other symptoms. Temperatures of staff are taken twice daily. Once onboard, we instruct guests to self-monitor and report to the Captain if they develop a fever or other symptoms. We ask you to be honest and tell us if there have been any changes that could compromise your health or others If fever or other symptoms are detected on board, the destination will contact their local medical support team for a consultation. If possible, transportation is arranged for the patient to visit the medical facility for evaluation. While awaiting transport to be organized, the guest will be asked to self-isolate in their stateroom. If the yacht is further offshore, medical support provides a remote consultation, and the guest will be instructed to self-isolate in their stateroom for the remainder of their trip or until the evacuation is possible. If appropriate, the roommate will move to alternate accommodations. Meals will be brought to the patient's room. Linens are cleaned (in isolation) daily, along with cleaning and sterilizing the room.
The guest will absorb the costs of evacuation and land accommodations and medical services. We highly recommend that you review your travel / medical insurance for coronavirus coverage should this occur. Keep in mind that fever alone is not a suspected Covid-19 case.

Anyone testing positive on arrival will be moved to quarantine in a designated government health centre, at their own expense. Direct contacts of those testing positive will either be moved to a designated government health centre or allowed to self-isolate in their own accommodation depending on their circumstances.

From 6 April 2022, there will be no requirement for travellers arriving from the UK for either a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test.

Travel insurance with cover for COVID-19 is required.

From 18th March, when you travel to England from abroad you:
do not need to take any COVID-19 tests before you travel or after you arrive
do not need to fill in a UK passenger locator form
do not need to quarantine when you arrive

Weather and Climate

Cuba's air temps don't really change too much over the year, staying in the mid to high 20s. November to April is the dry season. Over the summer months, expect short sharp rain showers. The water remains between 25-27C year round. Sites to the south of the island are a degree or two warmer than the northern coast.

Flight options

Depending on your travel dates, it may be possible to take a direct flight to Havana from the UK with Virgin. If not, there are various stopping services. If you wish to make your own flight arrangements to South Africa, let us know and we can remove the cost of the international flights from your quote. We are unfortunately not able to redeem airmiles on your behalf. Please do not confirm any flight arrangements yourself before your holiday is confirmed by us.

Stopovers

If you are on a stopping flight schedule, you can have a stop over in Amsterdam.

Visa requirements

UK passport holders must have a Cuba Tourist card prior to departure. You can obtain this from the Cuban embassy in London (167 High Holborn WC1V 6PA - 020 7240 2488). Alternatively you can use a 3rd party visa specialist. Scuba Travel is not able to arrange the Tourist Card on your behalf. Do ensure your passport has 6 months validity from your return date to prevent any issues with immigration. Insurance

Scuba Travel requires all of our customers to have diving insurance. Please make sure that you have appropriate cover for your diving activities. We also strongly recommend you have travel insurance. It's worth taking out travel insurance once you have paid your deposit to ensure you are covered for unforeseen events and cancellation. Immunisations

Preparing to fly

Seating

You will be able to manage your booking online once you have been ticketed (after you have paid your holiday balance). Most airlines will now enable you to select your seating at this point. There may be a small charge for prebookable seating before online check in opens. Please speak to the airline for more information about charges.

Check in

As you are flying with a scheduled airline, you will be able to check in online with your airline. Please visit their website for more information about when online check in opens.

What happens when I arrive?

On arrival please make your way through baggage claim and immigration. There will be a rep to meet you - please ensure you have advised us of your travel plans prior to travel if making your own flight arrangements. If you have any issues on arrival, please contact us. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.

Transfers

Transfers are included in your holiday. You be advised in your travel documentation of how to find your transfer.

Departures

At the end of your holiday, your return transfer details will be advised locally. There is no departure tax.

Tipping

Crew gratuities are not included in the charter. Aggressor believe gratuities should be voluntary and based upon the quality of service the crew has provided. When settling your account Friday morning, the Captain will have an envelope for gratuities that will be divided equally among the crew. Payment can be made by cash, traveller’s cheques or credit card.

Currency

Payment can be made by cash only in Cuba. USD can be freely exchanged for Cuban pesos locally. The best rate will be at banks. The next best exchange rate is at any Cadeca

Payments

Deposits and Balances

A typical deposit for your Aggressor liveaboard package will be 50% of the trip cost. Your final balance will be due 100 days before travel.

Ways to pay

We accept mastercard and visa debit or credit cards. Alternatively, you are welcome to pay via bank transfer. All non sterling card payments and UK business debit cards will be subject to the 2% surcharge. Overseas bank transfers must add £6 to the sterling total to cover international handling fees. We are not able to accept PayPal transactions.

Group Payments

If you have booked as part of a group, you can still call and pay directly without needing to go via your group leader. Please have your trip reference number to hand to help us locate your holiday as quickly as possible. You will receive a transaction receipt - your group leader will forward your ATOL certificate and booking confirmation

This is a boat only holiday with 2 nights in Havana and 7 nights on board JA1. In Havana you stay at the 5 star Iberostar Parque Central & tours: ocean conservation research talks, El Morro Fortress, Habana Vieja, local Cuban restaurant meals. You have 7 nights on board JA1 in a deluxe cabin, with all meals, snacks, fruit juice, soft drinks, tea, coffee. A limited selection of local beer and wine are complimentary. All diving is included on 12lt INTERNATIONAL air tank and weights. Havana airport transfers, port fees $190 and $100 marine conservation fee are all included.
