About Hurricane

Hurricane stands out in the Egyptian Red Sea - and not just because she is one of the few steel hulled vessels. Many Red Sea liveaboards are compared to Hurricane, but few are as enduringly popular. She has won the prestigious "Liveaboard of the Year" award no less than 6 times (including 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016). This is a testament to the superb crew and guides on board that make diving the southern Red Sea such a pleasure. This is no mean feat and can only be achieved with a vast amount of hard work all around.

At 36m there is bags of space on board Hurricane. There are 11 cabins in total spilt over the main and lower deck. The 4 main deck cabins are a mix of twin or double beds (with an additional single bed). The lower deck cabins are all twins apart from the bow cabins, which have a double bed and additional single bed. Cabins are allocated at the time of booking so do ask your travel consultant if you have a specific request. All have individual air con and en suite bathrooms.

You will instantly recognise what has become the Tornado Marine Fleet signature design. The dining and saloon areas are separate. Meals are served buffet style in the main deck dining area. Upstairs opens up into the saloon with the bar, TV and seating area. Outside there is a seated deck (ideal for your post dive tales), the upper sun deck and loungers. Down on the dive deck extras include an air gun for cameras, high pressure gas bending facilities (please prebook), nitrox compressor and gear storage. The low dive platform makes entry and exits easy.

With longer journeys and more open seas in the southern Red Sea, Hurricane works hard and from time to time, this is reflected in the exterior of a steel hulled vessel. But her superb design means that beneath this cosmetic wear and tear, you are on board one of the most stable liveaboards in the Egypt, with a Captain that has been at her helm for years. Hurricane under goes a major refit each winter - inside and out - to ensure this Grand Dame of the diving world will carry on sailing the South for years to come.

Martin Nordin - Goes on Hurricane at least once a year!

I really like the southern Red sea, it's one of my favourite places to dive. Brothers, Daedalus and st Johns are areas that I really love coming back to time after time. Over the years I have been diving there on a few different liveaboards and to me the steel hulled Hurricane stands out from the crowd. Her crew and guides work really hard and to me it's no surprise that she has won "liveaboard of the year" so many times.
My personal favourite time to go is May/June when you can encounter hammerheads and whitetips without going too deep. Whilst I really like Daedalus, Elphinstone and st Johns it's the Brothers islands that is on top of my list. Ascending down on the northern tip of Big Brother and then slowly drift along the wall all the way to the boat is in my opinion one of the best dives you can do in the Red Sea.

Excellent food. Thank you chefs. Really appreciated the fruit after the afternoon dive and the great salads. Also, this is the first liveaboard where there was not too much food. Very little seemed wasted which is a great thing.
The guides were very accommodating and happy to try and flex the plan to meet everyone's preferences. The crew were fantastic and really helpful.

2019-06-27 09:10:12

All of seven us had a great trip, think we were some of the luckiest divers in the water (hammerheads, silky, dolphins, turtles. Only missed out on the manta!) As ever, really impressed with the crew, the dive guides, their courtesy to us and each other. Very relaxing and exciting trip simultaneously.

Just got back from a week in the Red Sea yesterday, everything was as expected - absolutely wonderful. Great organisation on scuba travels side and everything went smoothly, and the diving was top quality, with a great boat to do it off of.

Just wanted to to give some feedback on the crew and the guides - they 100% made the week more memorable and made the trip for all of us in our group. Their friendliness, helpfulness and dedication was superb. Not only are we going to book scuba travel again, we are going to go back to Hurricane! They made every effort to make us feel welcome and comfortable on board, the food was excellent, they helped fix any personal gear issues we had, they were well in tuned to the diving operations, and most of all very friendly people. Can't recommend all of them enough!

I was on Hurricane back in September 2018 5th. sept. Itinerary Shark Quest the standard of this trip was equally as good excellent all round. I think this itinerary Daedalus Rocky & St. Johns is the best all round it takes in the very best the red sea has to offer.
I have been on 23 Liveaboard trips now and Hurricane is the best boat, except for ROYAL EVOLUTION SUDAN TRIP. I like steel hull liveaboards the best. I will be back again on HURRICANE with Captain Hamada.

2019-05-16 09:55:36

I had a fantastic week on the Hurricane with amazing staff. The food was definately better than last year not that there was anything wrong with the food on the last trip. Cabins were kept immaculately clean. The guys were just fantastic

2019-05-16 08:55:36

I've just returned from a lovely trip on the Hurricane. Food, cleanliness and so forth were of a high standard. The crew and guides were compassionate, caring while being professional at the same time

2019-04-25 08:55:36

We had a great week on Hurricane. The guides and crew were fantastic and we did some amazing dives. One of the highlights was the dolphins at Dolphin House where we were lucky enough to snorkel with them for an hour. Cabins were comfortable, showers were hot and the sun deck was lovely. Lots of food and the chef was great at catering for individual requests

Amazing crew boat please pass on how fantastic it was for all

2018-10-26 13:04:21

Fabulous trip! The skipper and guides ensured that we were given the absolute best opportunities to access dive sites when they were least busy. As a result we saw far more than other boats. Food, as always, was excellent. As usual the TMF staff were excellent in all aspects and I will definitely sign up for another trip with them. I could not imagine using any other boats/fleet

2018-09-26 09:07:13

First ever trip with you had never done a liverboard before well and truly enjoyed it thanks to the guides and the friendly staff top people

2018-09-22 11:04:13

The guide Mousa and our Captain were also excellent and we had some of the best dive briefings we have had. I cannot thank Scuba Travel (Sam) and the rest of the team for helping and providing a great week. As the organizer it is always difficult to please all, however this trip did not fail to please with a constant boat full of happy divers chatting and sharing photos and stories. This is definitely the best wreck and reefs itinerary with the inclusion of Tiran. It's a real winner.

2018-08-22 10:14:12

As usual the I couldn't find any fault with the dive guides, the crew, the boat, the food... Yasser's 3D dive briefings were great (not something I've seen before) and his willingness to help guests (both above and underwater) goes beyond what I would expect from a guide. I'd be very happy to dive with him again. The rest of the crew was also super helpful, and always with a smile on their faces. My cabin mate and dive buddy had a blast, rarely have I had so much fun with someone who was a total stranger before the trip.

2018-08-08 10:17:51

This was my first Liveaboard holiday and would totally recommend the hurricane. The whole experience is one that I will never forget. The crew were fantastic from the guides to the cabin crew could not do enough to help. The food was superb and plentiful. Definitely will be rebooking soon.

2018-08-08 10:07:51

I have done a number of livaboards and this is by far the best ever and fully deserves to be voter the best livaboard. The two guides Annette and Yassr were exceptional and made the whole experience outstanding. The crew could not have done more to be helpful. It made my grandsons Experience and when presented with a cake on Completing his AOW course he was blown away A special thanks to Annette for the way she guided him through the course without any hassle. Once again thanks to all and we hope to dive with you again

2018-07-18 10:07:51

Waheed was a fantastic dive guide and it was an absolute pleasure to dive with him. Calm and sensible and always knew the answers to my questions. Fantastic Guide!I will come back to dive with Waheed

2018-07-01 10:07:51

The crew were fantastic, really helpful, hard-working and efficient. Food was excellent, plenty of it and delicious. Cabin very comfortable. The boat was looking really great from it's refurb.

Once Again an amazing trip on MV Hurricane. Love the new look on the boat. Great to see all the crew again. Samir And alarm where great looking after us. The whole boat crew were professional polite and courteous and couldnít do enough for you. Oh and a good laugh as well. Great food from the chef and his assistant, the dive guides Yasser and Ayman were great fun and very knowledgeable. All in all a very good time once again. Thank you scuba travel and tornado Marine Fleet for a great trip, hope to see you all soon.

2018-05-14 10:07:07

We really appreciated all of the hard work from the crew and dive guides. We were lucky with the weather in that we had calm seas, however, we still managed to see some big stuff despite the lack of current. The whole crew on Hurricane was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We'll be back next year.

2018-05-09 10:07:07

All the guides, crew and diving were fantastic as always.I cannot fault it in any way at all. A big thank you to everyone.

2018-05-02 10:07:07

The guides and crew are amazing! I love that they are one happy family and this reflects in their attitude and creates a fun and positive atmosphere throughout the boat. The crew are helpful, friendly and we were honoured to be invited to join them for coffee after diving. I've done a lot on live aboards with various companies and I have to say that the food is the best I've had. It's a great boat (love the steel hull) and a great crew! Glad to see that we can now buy polo shirts
