About Hurricane

Hurricane stands out in the Egyptian Red Sea - and not just because she is one of the few steel hulled vessels. Many Red Sea liveaboards are compared to Hurricane, but few are as enduringly popular. She has won the prestigious "Liveaboard of the Year" award no less than 4 times (including 2016) and in 2013 she has had a complete refit, including new air conditioning throughout, new plumbing and new teak decks. Fans of Hurricane often cite the superb diver comfort, thoughtful layout and highly experienced crew as the reasons they keep coming back year after year.

At 36m there is bags of space on board Hurricane. No detail was over looked when she was built and she is continually renovated to maintain the highest standards. There are 11 cabins in total spilt over the main and lower deck. The 4 main deck cabins are a mix of twin or double beds (with an additional single bed). The lower deck cabins are all twins apart from the bow cabins, which have a double bed and additional single bed. Cabins are allocated at the time of booking so do ask your travel consultant if you have a specific request. All have individual air con, en suite bathrooms, a fridge and safe box.

You will instantly recognise what has become the Tornado Marine Fleet signature design. The dining and saloon areas are divided to provide optimum comfort at all stages of the trip. Upstairs opens up into the AC saloon with the bar, flat screen and seating area. Outside there is a seated deck (ideal for your post dive tales), the upper sun deck and loungers and jacuzzi. Down on the dive deck extras include an air gun for cameras, high pressure gas bending facilities (including trimix), nitrox compressor and gear storage. The steel hull and low dive platform make Hurricane a stable ride in even the bumpiest of weather and entry and exits are easy. Hurricane has it all - and it is easy to see just why divers fall in love with her.

Main deck twin/double cabin

Hurricane has two main deck cabins that can be both twin or double bed. They are located in the front half of the main deck. These cabins have lovely big rectangular windows facing the ocean. All cabins onboard Hurricane have en suite, air con and safe. There is no surcharge for the main deck cabins.

Just like to tell everybody at your office what a fantastic time my son and myself had on hurricane last week the trip was fantastic crew were amazing from the sailors to the cooks and everybody that works on the ship also the transfer was spot-on and the choice of hotel that we stayed in on our final day was the best I've stayed in on the last day of a Liveaboard trip. The guy that picked us up from the airport and took us to the hotel was very good as well. Many thanks again and I am sure to be booking with you the next time thanks.

The boat is solid as a rock, which is needed when some of the swells start to kick up. It's clean and tidy and just what is needed when you are away diving for a week. Elphinstone was the highlight of the trip with regards to dive sites. We finished our trip with 2 dives here and were lucky enough to see a hammerhead, grey reef shark, white tip reef shark and 2 oceanic's which came to say hello under the boat. The reef was alive with soft and hard corals with lots of small animals to find hiding in the holes and overhangs. A fantastic way to finish an excellent week of diving. Again; a big thanks to the crew and sailors for helping us get ready and safely to the dive sites. The sea conditions were very challenging and they do a fantastic job!!

This is my third liveaboard trip where I had the pleasure of Yasser as dive guide, the first with Mousa. I would be very pleased for them to be my dive guides on the next Red Sea trip I take, due to their excellent dive briefings, safety consciousness and general good humour. In particular, they did their best to find us the 'big stuff' whilst simultaneously trying to keep a large and varied group safe out in the blue at depths with occasionally very strong current.

This was my second trip on the hurricane, and we returned solely because of the dive guides and crew. I don’t think you realise what a total asset the team are that you have working on the hurricane. To have numerous guests wanting to return to the same boat with the same crew, says only one thing. They have a number one team that staff the hurricane. We are already looking to book our next trip on the Hurricane.

My husband And I had numerous problems with our kit I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Yasser and the engineer for all the effort they put into rectifying the problems without them we could not have dived and our holiday would have been spoilt We stayed on the boat last week and went to the resta grande on the last day. This hotel is beautiful so much better than the marina lodge where you previously put us up. The food and the facilities were excellent.

Trip was an absolute pleasure. Great guides, a very attentive crew and any minor problems (eg cabin smells) were addressed quickly. The food was unbelievable give the size of the kitchen. Better meals than I have had in top London restaurants!

As ever living on the hurricane was a pleasure and privilege to enjoy, the diving is complemented by the ever helpful and attentive crew, one and all - I will return. The crew were exceptional. Every element of the trip met my expectations and the crew worked tirelessly to be sure the safari was enjoyed by all.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for organising the trip for us. We have just got back from Deadalus, Rocky and St. John's and it was the best liveaboard I have ever done. We saw sharks on lots of the dives, hammer heads, oceanics, great reef sharks all on one dive ! The crew were amazing and made our trip so pleasurable. The dive guides Adel and Wahid were fantastic so knowledgable and attentive to all of us. Can't wait to come back in November so thank you to you all.

The boat was spotless, well kept and comfortable. The crew were amazing, they surprised me with a wonderful cake on my birthday which was a fantastic touch to the day. They were incredibly welcoming and the hardest working people I have ever met! The guides led amazing dives and I can't fault them, from finding Hammerheads to lending personal gear, they were incredible.

As always Tornado Fleet and Scuba Travel do everything possible to ensure all guests have enjoyable, safe time. Hurricane is a stable, ideal boat for this itinerary, and I cannot fault anything. Crew were always exceptionally helpful, and our guide Adel is the best guide in the Red Sea without exception. Lovely food, with a great choice for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. No complaints at all. I will be very happy to bring another group out very soon.

The crew were helpful, attentive and most of all great fun. The food was excellent it never ceases to amaze me how they turn out such brilliant food in the small kitchen.

2017-05-10 09:09:04

Hurricane was very comfortable, lovely hot showers. The guides and crew were extremely attentive - I wasn't allowed to do anything for myself!

2017-05-09 17:23:04

The crew were always on hand on the dive deck and around the boat. Always with a smile. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed the guides attention to detail on the briefings and in the water keen to impart their knowledge of the marine life to be seen at the various dive sites. I have been on several Liveaboards and I can honestly say that the food on Hurricane was the best I have ever experienced. I was served with pride and was always of a very high standard.

What a terrific trip we were spoilt with the weather, the sea conditions were very kind to us, the long crossings were very pleasant. Hurricane had clearly had a hard season but was still good, lovely low dive deck and good ladders. Cabin was good, even the air conditioning was reasonably quiet and always plenty of hot water. The food was plentiful and often really very good. The crew and guides were excellent, very helpful, couldn't do enough for you. As for the diving, that didn't disappoint, plenty of hammer head and and oceanic shark encounters, turtles and all the usual reef life. The scenic dives were lovely.

The chefs do an excellent job with a tiny kitchen. They catered very well for members of the group with special food requirements and always had a great choice available.

2016-11-22 12:11:45

Excellent crew and dive guides. All the time as helpful as possible and really good fun. Kareem and Adel made the dives and briefings easy and fun. The crew was incredibly helpful not just diving but during the whole trip at any time. Always friendly and smiley. Couldn’t ask for nothing better

Really great boat – loved it as much as two years ago. Clean, comfortable and run with exceptional proficiency and professionalism. An amazing crew

2016-11-22 12:09:15

Great boat – steady in the water and fast crossings. Plenty of hot water, comfortable beds. This was the best liveaboard trip I have had. Really great bunch of people and good fun. I would choose this liveaboard above my previous trips with Blue O Two because of the quality of food and guides, but mostly because this trip has been so much fun. A good mix

the group have had a great holiday, great diving with turtles, hammer heads and oceanic white tip sharks, dolphins, some rays, and great reefs. The food was great and the crew were really good entering into the madness that my group brings to the week. All such good fun. The guides (Kareem and Mohammed) were also very good both in terms of their guiding skills but again also entering into the groups antics and always interacting with us, eating with us and spending time with us during breaks in diving and in the evenings.

The boat is superbly equipped and the steal hull makes the ride more relaxing when the seas get up. I can't praise the crew and dive guides enough. From superb and informative dive briefings, to the crew helping you in and out of the boat with your kit, to the hot chocolates at the end of your night dives. You will be hard pushed to find better service and support than we received. I look forward to seeing them all again next year
