Hurricane Red Sea Liveaboard

Hurricane stands out in the Egyptian Red Sea - and not just because she is one of the few steel hulled vessels. Many Red Sea liveaboards are compared to Hurricane, but few are as enduringly popular. She has won the prestigious "Liveaboard of the Year" award no less than 6 times (including 2019, 2018, 2017 & 2016). This is a testament to the superb crew and guides on board that make diving the southern Red Sea such a pleasure. This is no mean feat and can only be achieved with a vast amount of hard work all around.

At 36m there is bags of space on board Hurricane. There are 11 cabins in total spilt over the main and lower deck, all of which are twin bed. Cabins are allocated at the time of booking so do ask your travel consultant if you have a specific request. The 4 cabins on the main deck are pre-allocated at the time of booking and cost £75pp as an additional surcharge. All have individual air con and en suite bathrooms. Hurricanes cabins have been restyled and updated in 2021.

You will instantly recognise what has become the Tornado Marine Fleet signature design. The dining and saloon areas are separate. Meals are served buffet style in the main deck dining area. Upstairs opens up into the saloon with the bar, TV and seating area. Outside there is a seated deck (ideal for your post dive tales), the upper sun deck and loungers. Down on the dive deck extras include an air gun for cameras, high pressure gas bending facilities (please prebook), nitrox compressor and gear storage. The low dive platform makes entry and exits easy.

With longer journeys and more open seas in the southern Red Sea, Hurricane works hard and from time to time, this is reflected in the exterior of a steel hulled vessel (AIS on navigation equipment). But her superb design means that beneath this cosmetic wear and tear, you are on board one of the most stable liveaboards in the Egypt. Hurricane under goes a major refit each winter - inside and out - to ensure this Grand Dame of the diving world will carry on sailing the South for years to come.

Martin Nordin - Goes on Hurricane at least once a year!

I really like the southern Red sea, it's one of my favourite places to dive. Brothers, Daedalus and st Johns are areas that I really love coming back to time after time. Over the years I have been diving there on a few different liveaboards and to me the steel hulled Hurricane stands out from the crowd. Her crew and guides work really hard and to me it's no surprise that she has won "liveaboard of the year" so many times.
My personal favourite time to go is May/June when you can encounter hammerheads and whitetips without going too deep. Whilst I really like Daedalus, Elphinstone and st Johns it's the Brothers islands that is on top of my list. Ascending down on the northern tip of Big Brother and then slowly drift along the wall all the way to the boat is in my opinion one of the best dives you can do in the Red Sea.
If you interested in going Hurricane don't hesitate to give me a call 01483 411590 or email me at martin@scubatravel.com

This was a simply an outstanding week from beginning to end; the crew were excellent to a fault, attentive and helpful every minute and hour of the day. The boat was very comfortable and the facilities all in great order post the refit. The food in particular was highly commendable, I have nothing but praise for the week overall.

Great boat, always clean and tidy, plenty of hot water. Good social areas and plenty of space. Brilliant crew all round. Great knowledge and experience from our dive guides and to help out and generally excellent service from the boat crew. Always happy to help in any way they can. Great and tasty food every day and catering for all our different tastes. The chef and kitchen staff must work tirelessly to keep guests and crew well fed.

Excellent food. Thank you chefs. Really appreciated the fruit after the afternoon dive and the great salads. Also, this is the first liveaboard where there was not too much food. Very little seemed wasted which is a great thing.

All of seven us had a great trip, think we were some of the luckiest divers in the water (hammerheads, silky, dolphins, turtles. Only missed out on the manta!) As ever, really impressed with the crew, the dive guides, their courtesy to us and each other. Very relaxing and exciting trip simultaneously.

Just got back from a week in the Red Sea yesterday, everything was as expected - absolutely wonderful. Great organisation on scuba travels side and everything went smoothly, and the diving was top quality, with a great boat to do it off of.

Just wanted to to give some feedback on the crew and the guides - they 100% made the week more memorable and made the trip for all of us in our group. Their friendliness, helpfulness and dedication was superb. Not only are we going to book scuba travel again, we are going to go back to Hurricane! They made every effort to make us feel welcome and comfortable on board, the food was excellent, they helped fix any personal gear issues we had, they were well in tuned to the diving operations, and most of all very friendly people. Can't recommend all of them enough!

I was on Hurricane back in September 2018 5th. sept. Itinerary Shark Quest the standard of this trip was equally as good excellent all round. I think this itinerary Daedalus Rocky & St. Johns is the best all round it takes in the very best the red sea has to offer.
I have been on 23 Liveaboard trips now and Hurricane is the best boat, except for ROYAL EVOLUTION SUDAN TRIP. I like steel hull liveaboards the best. I will be back again on HURRICANE with Captain Hamada.

We had a great week on Hurricane. The guides and crew were fantastic and we did some amazing dives. One of the highlights was the dolphins at Dolphin House where we were lucky enough to snorkel with them for an hour. Cabins were comfortable, showers were hot and the sun deck was lovely. Lots of food and the chef was great at catering for individual requests

    2018-10-26 13:04:21

Fabulous trip! The skipper and guides ensured that we were given the absolute best opportunities to access dive sites when they were least busy. As a result we saw far more than other boats. Food, as always, was excellent. As usual the TMF staff were excellent in all aspects and I will definitely sign up for another trip with them. I could not imagine using any other boats/fleet

    2018-09-22 11:04:13

The guide Mousa and our Captain were also excellent and we had some of the best dive briefings we have had. I cannot thank Scuba Travel (Sam) and the rest of the team for helping and providing a great week. As the organizer it is always difficult to please all, however this trip did not fail to please with a constant boat full of happy divers chatting and sharing photos and stories. This is definitely the best wreck and reefs itinerary with the inclusion of Tiran. It's a real winner.

    Tanja

    2018-08-22 10:14:12

As usual the I couldn't find any fault with the dive guides, the crew, the boat, the food... Yasser's 3D dive briefings were great (not something I've seen before) and his willingness to help guests (both above and underwater) goes beyond what I would expect from a guide. I'd be very happy to dive with him again. The rest of the crew was also super helpful, and always with a smile on their faces. My cabin mate and dive buddy had a blast, rarely have I had so much fun with someone who was a total stranger before the trip.
