Pelagian | Wakatobi Liveaboard | Indonesia Liveaboard

Resuming operations June 2022

The Pelagian takes the same standards, so characteristic of the Wakatobi Dive Resort, to liveaboard diving in south Sulawesi. The Pelagian places the entire Wakatobi Marine Park at your fin tips and will get you to some of the best dive sites in the world, mixing walls, drifts, pinnacles and muck dives. If you love being pampered and world class diving, then make a beeline for the Pelagian! You'll think you're on your own private yacht.

Sleeping only 10 divers, the Pelagian is 36m of luxury. There are 4 different berth designs enable you to choose the cabin that suits your needs. All are tastefully decorated with a boutique style that looks more like a hotel. Modern en suite bathrooms and air con are standard. The standard cabins are great if you tend to spend most of your waking hours in the communal areas. Practically designed, the standard cabin is a twin option. The deluxe cabin is larger with 1 double and 1 twin bed. There are 2 superlux cabins which are larger still. There is a queen double and separate day bed. The master cabin stretches the full width of the boat. There is a kind sized double, seating area,, TV and blue ray. This cabin is on the main deck.

Every area on this unique liveaboard has been designed to ensure your comfort at sea is not compromised. Relax in the main salon or soak up the ever changing scenery from the foredeck. Sublime meals are prepared freshly each day. The pre-dive area provides ample space for donning and doffing equipment and camera care- the camera room looks more like an upmarket bar than a kit storage! Just as much care has been taken over the dive deck and facilities. Two custom build RIBs drop divers, from which the bulk of the diving takes place. Pick-ups are fast and easy with the help of on board ladders. Rebreather divers are welcome on the Pelagian.

You are now able to select how many days diving you would like included in your liveaboard package. So you can strike the ideal balance for you between relaxation and discovering the marvellous world underwater in South Sulawesi.

master suite

The beautiful master suite that spans the full width of the vessel (and occupies the entire bow on main deck) offers all the comforts of home. A King Size bed, a generously proportioned lounge with a love seat provide the perfect place to watch movies, listen to music, read, or work on your laptop in total privacy. The roomy bathroom is contemporary in decor and equipment, featuring top of the line rain forest shower and vanity fittings.

Superlux cabin

These air conditioned cabins evoke a feeling of tranquility and restfulness. Both of these cabins feature a walk-around, queen-size bed and separate day bed/generously proportioned extra bed. Hanging bedside tables, floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and large drawers under the beds for storage. Spaciousness extends into the beautiful bathrooms featuring a glass shower area, a big vanity with spa-like fixtures and great lighting.

Deluxe

The efficient layout of the deluxe cabin creates the perfect accommodation for a couple or two dive buddies looking for their own space. This cabin features two beds; one wide enough for two people, the other accommodates one person. plenty of large cupboards and a small love seat offers a place to sit, read, and maintain your dive log or work on your laptop. This cabin also has a spacious bathroom with shower and toilet. Air conditioned with private controls, of course.

Standard cabin

For divers who tend to focus more on the boats common areas (and their diving) than on having the largest cabin onboard. The standard cabin features two single beds arranged opposite each other. Built-in storage is provided for stowing personal items. This cabin also has a newly-remodelled bathroom with shower and toilet and is air-conditioned with private control.

It was really really good and many thanks for all your help in putting the trip together. Loved the Pelagian, crew etc really good, Although we decided muck diving is not for us, especially with all those amazing reefs and lagoons everywhere, never seen so many turtles when diving before.

Just a quick line to say thank you very much for booking our recent dive holiday to Wakatobi and onboard Pelagian. We had a wonderful time with superb everything, from Pelagians accommodation, food, dive guides and crew to the resorts accommodation, food and diving. Pelagian - what can I say, it is the best dive boat we have ever been on. We were very lucky in that there were only 6 divers on board and we were given the opportunity to upgrade our cabin, at a very reasonable price, and ended up in the Master Bedroom, never has our accommodation been so spacious and plush. Our wedding anniversary was marked by a bottle of sparkling wine and a cake made onboard. As expected the diving was great, lots of small critters, the occasional turtle, one very sleepy shark.

Excellent crew; food; comfort; attention to detail, as always a first class operation where the staff go that extra mile. This is the first time ever that we have repeated a holiday and the reason is simple; The Pelagian is in a class of its own

An outstanding experience from the moment I landed in Bali and was greeted by a Wakatobi staff member, to the moment I left. The Dive Masters and the entire crew did an exceptional job. Dive briefings were very thorough, the diving was fantastic and the attention to every detail was great!

I thought that you might want to have some feedbacks from our experience on the Pelagian at Wakatobi. We had a fabulous experience. From arrival, transfer and organizing our pick up back in Bali, all transport issues were well addressed. On the boat, everything was perfect: crews attention (especially the stewards), dive masters (good humour, attention to the conservation, good guides), food (excellent), cabins (comfortable even the standard one!!), cleanliness, facilities on the boat. We had some of our most fantastic dives. Visibility was good, current was manageable and the underwater world was amazing. We logged a lot of weird looking fishes, nudibranches, corals, not recorded yet by our eyes. The trip was excellent. We will return, definitely! To be recommended to any diver that wants to see beautiful underwater world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Location

Indonesia is around 15-20 hours flight from the UK and is made up of around 19 000 islands. It is the largest archipelago in the world straddling the Equator, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Most travellers will enter Indonesia through Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS) or Manado (MDC) airports. This is the stuff of divers' dreams. This exotic nation is the very definition of bio diversity. Find the big fish in Komodo, Raja Ampat or Kalimantan. Drift lazily along the walls of Bunaken and Wakatobi, watching turtles on coral drenched walls. While away the hours hunting for miniscule macro in Bali, Lembeh or Ambon. Cannot decide? Why not combine two locations into a single trip!

Weather and Climate

Indonesia is a vast country, and the weather can be hugely variable. The topography means that weather patterns can be very localised. This is the tropics! For Bali, Komodo & Wakatobi the weather is usually best from April - November, with July and August being some of the best months to visit. Between December and March the conditions can be a bit stormy. November to April is also the wettest month to visit Bunaken, Lembeh and Kalimantan but to a lesser degree than in other locations. October to April is historically the most popular time to dive in Raja Ampat.

What happens when I arrive?

On arrival in your Indonesia destination, you will need to clear immigration and collect your baggage. You will then be met outside of arrivals by a representative from your liveaboard or resort. Some reps are able to meet you airside. They will be holding a board with either your destination or your name on it. If you have any issues at all locating your rep, please contact us. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.

Transfers

If you have a hotel en route please follow any specific instructions in your travel documents. Where possible, you will be met by a representative who will assist in taking you to your hotel. If using a shuttle service, please arrange your return shuttle time back to the airport at the hotel check in. Domestic flights are common in Indonesia and run frequently. The major hubs of Jakarta, Bali and Manado all have separate terminals for domestic and international departures. Just follow the signs to move between international and domestic terminals. The service has improved vastly, but there can still be last minute schedule changes. Please ensure you leave plenty of time for check in or transit between flights (usually 4 hours min). Domestic flights can typically only be booked with a 20kgs hold allowance as standard. Excess baggage must be paid for in Indonesian rupiah and costs around $2-$5 per kg per way. Due to local traffic and road conditions, land journey times can be difficult to predict. We recommend you take water with you and keep any essentials in your hand baggage to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

Departures

At the end of your holiday, your return transfer details will be advised locally. As of Feb 2015, the departure tax for all domestic and international flights is built into your flight ticket price.
