Caribbean Explorer 2 | Caribbean Liveaboard

Discover the diving of Saba and St Kitts on board Caribbean Explorer 2. St Kitts is well known as being one of the most picturesque Caribbean islands and has incredibly varied diving to boot. Saba Island is home to exhilarating wall dives with pelagics and swirling fish balls. Virgin reef systems and coral gardens as well as shark dives and drifts await. And with up to 5 dives a day, your Caribbean liveaboard delivers one diving thrill after another.

Caribbean Explorer II sleeps up to 18 divers and is 35m. There are 4 cabins on the same level as the dive deck with a mix of queen double or twin beds. In the lower deck you find twin cabins, some of which have a double bed with bunk above. Please do let your consultant know at the time of booking if you have a specific cabin preference. All cabins have en suite and a centrally controlled air conditioning system.

The saloon is located on the upper deck with entertainment centre, comfy chairs and the bar. Meals are served here and your package includes free alcoholic drinks after the day's diving is done. Or head towards the sun deck to work on your tan, enjoy a read or just soak in the glorious view. The boat will stop at islands for a beach excursion during the trip. Down on the dive deck your kit is stowed safely away in your personal locker. Cameras can be set up in peace with the dedicated facilities on board. And everyone has easy access to the water. Giant stride off the deck and let the real adventure unfold.

At present until July 2022: We are currently diving around Saba only, and anticipate that we will be able to add St. Kitts diving sooner than the time Covid regulations and flights into and out of St. Kitts make a return to our normal one-way itineraries possible again. Also, we cannot offer any land tours in Saba and St Kitts but will offer them as soon as we possibly can. Post July 2022: Our advertised dates operate from St Kitts to St Maarten as this is the most effective flight route. The boat also runs St Maarten to St Kitts on alternating weeks. flight options with this route are typically indirect and would normally require en route hotel stays.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed my trip to St Kitts and Saba onboard the CE2. So much so that I have already booked my return trip in September. The boat although an old boat is as comfortable as any I've been on, I particularly like the top deck lounge dining room area. It is nice to have the fresh air while your having your meals. Some of the best home cooking I have had on a liveaboard! A fantastic achievement as I have done 60 plus liveaboards! Top quality food served buffet style, you can have as much or little as you want, few meals cooked on the bbq, local fisherman brings his catch on board once a week and cooks for all the guests. Another nice touch is all the alcohol is free, includes spirits, wines, bubbles and beer. The rooms are comfortable each with private shower, particularly enjoyed my chocolate left during the turn down service. The 6 crew worked well as a team and ensured all guests were given excellent customer service.

Hi Georgie, we are back, tired but still elated at such a brilliant week's liveaboard! Our group have been on newer, bigger, more luxurious liveaboards but this was our best trip ever. The team on board are absolutely excellent, they focus 100% on their guests comfort, enjoyment and safety, whilst obviously enjoying what they do. The food is first class, better than many top notch hotels and the diving amazing - we saw the biggest range of sea life ever - from seahorses to whales! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, helped by the range of FREE wines and spirits (!!!) available in the evenings.

Covid Information for Caribbean Explorer 2

INFORMATION PROVIDED BY EXPLORER VENTURES FLEET

Last Updated: APR 2022
Our crew members are working hard for guests arrival. Our new operational protocols include several pre-emptive boarding and cleanliness measures that affect the guest's journey from arrival to departure, including additional health and well-being requirements across all points of contact on the vessels.

PRE-TRIP & BOARDING

Vessel evaluation: We have completed an evaluation and continue to assess points of guest contact. This has resulted in the integration of heightened hygiene practices across key points - starting from the moment guests arrive at the gangway through the entirety of their onboard vacation experience. These points include the salons, guest rooms, galley, food and beverage experiences, housekeeping and laundry, public bathrooms, dive deck and dive platform.
Temperature & Covid Checks: Precautionary temperature and oxygen checks for both crew and guests may be done daily at some destinations. Guest will be required to take negative PCR tests before arriving at their destination.
Boarding: To help ensure that all team members and guests stay healthy, all staff are required to wear face masks during check-in, when screening guest temperatures, during meal service, in public areas inside the vessel, and when off the vessel and at other times as may be necessary. Bags and shoes will also be fogged in pre-boarding.
Masks: Guests are encouraged to wear masks as is practical and we suggest the use of reusable masks. Masks made from recycled ocean plastics have been provided to the staff and are available onboard for guest purchase.

DAILY OPERATION:

Briefings: Guest welcome and daily briefings include reminders on best practices for safety, handwashing, avoiding illness, and on our Green Fins and Dive Green programs.
Social Distancing: Social distancing practices are encouraged so that guests maintain a safe social distance whenever possible while sustaining the relaxed experience our trips are known for. This includes spacing guests out on the dive deck as much as possible, asking that guests keep control of regulators and masks on the way to the exits and on the way to their lockers upon returning from their dives, and replacing handshakes with a nod and a smile.
Dining: The guest dining experience has been modified to limit contact points of normal buffet service. Typical food service is now plated, with servers wearing gloves and masks during all meal services. Any guest who chooses not to eat with the group in the salon may have the meal served on the sun deck. Guests will be asked to wash hands before meals and limit contact.
Provisions: Local vendors and suppliers are be required to have minimal physical contact, and we sanitize all touchpoints, including equipment, and remove all outer packing upon arrival.
Land Tours & Taxis: We have worked with our shore support companies to ensure that transfers are done in accordance with new recommendations for cleanliness and decontamination. All tours have been put on hold for the time being. The Friday night dinners ashore are planned to accommodate cleanliness and distancing expectations.

CLEANING & SANITIZATION:

Crew Training: Crew have been trained in appropriate Covid-19 cleaning and disinfection procedures from accredited organizations.
Disinfection: Cleaning, disinfection and sanitation are repeated multiple times daily, with a minimum of three inspections daily. These inspections and targeted cleaning steps include hard surfaces such as door handles and handrails and include public restrooms, salon tables, and chairs as well as other high-touch surfaces. Interior areas of the vessels are fogged weekly with disinfectant.
Chemical Agents: Simple Green Pro 3 and Vital Oxide are the primary cleaning agents used for disinfection and fogging. Both agents are Covid-19 approved and are biodegradable keeping environmental impact top of mind.
Room Cleaning: Daily room cleaning service is offered but stressed as optional if guests would prefer not to have others in their room at all. When cleaning staff use gloves and mask. As always, staterooms are cleaned thoroughly between charters.
Linens: Our dive towel system has been altered to limit the potential for cross-contamination. As always, careful cleaning and sanitizing of cabin linens and towels is a priority. Cleaning of linens is optional should guests decline the service.
Air Purification: UV-C lights have been installed for purification of air conditioning system.
Handwashing: Additional handwashing and hand sanitizing stations are provided for guests and crew members throughout the vessels. Handwashing is emphasized before sanitizer to reduce environmental impact from both the chemical and plastics.
Rinse Tanks: Mask rinse tanks have been eliminated in favor of running water rinses. Gear rinse tanks are treated to avoid cross-contamination of dive gear. Simple Green Pro 3 is used.
Rental Gear: All gear is sanitized between rentals and handled carefully to reduce potential contamination.

WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN?

Some of these altered procedures may temporarily impact the level of customer service, guest interaction and accommodation for which the Explorer Ventures Fleet is known. While each vessel and operation is different, some challenges are universal. Our vessels have room for only a certain number of crew and guests meaning social distancing can be difficult to maintain. Also, additional crew responsibilities may limit their time available with guests. While our goal remains to deliver an exceptionally good experience to every guest, diving holidays in today's norm requires some flexibility on the part of both guests and crew.
