About MY Voyager

Sudan is a remote destination, still visited only by a handful of divers each year. But now you can dive this exciting, untouched part of the Red Sea from the decks of the luxurious liveaboard Voyager. She is operated by an experienced team who have made the Sudan their home and know each reef intimately - there is no one better to guide you through the Sudanese waters. With such an unparalleled knowledge of the dive sites, marine species, their seasonality it is no wonder that divers flock back to this vessel year after year.

Voyager sleeps up to 23 guests over 11 modern, large cabins. There are 2 upper deck suites with a large double bed. A further 2 main deck cabins offer 1 twin option and 1 bunk option (only used on full charter bookings). On the lower deck you find the 6 twin cabins, 1 double suite and 1 triple. All have en suite and individual air con.

The saloon has been decorated stylishly, with oak wood floors, bar and TV/Video/DVD/Stereo. Meals are served a la carte in the dining area. A spacious sundeck offers you a great view and a quiet place for relaxing and sunbathing. With 7 night or 10 nights on board Voyager, our different itineraries offer a real chance to get to grips with this diving wonderland. For your comfort, Voyager has been designed to be stable and speedy, with a specially adapted, large dive platform

Probably the best boat, crew and guides I've ever had. Was a good mix of divers and countries which is nice. The food was really good and service great.

The trip went fantastically well, vis could have been a little better and the sharks could have been in bigger numbers but that's nature for you. In relation to the boat and service I couldn't fault it, everything was top class! As i ended up travelling on my own i must say that I felt very comfortable in the hands of the crew and particularly Marco, the lead guide. He always made sure that I was looked after. The facilities on the boat were first class and comfort levels were fantastic. The constant supply of food and beverages were of a very high standard and as a result put on a few extra kilos!! A fantastic trip on a fantastic boat in a great location with brilliant crew. I would definitely do it again!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Location

Sudan is best reached by sailing from the Egyptian border. Spend more time diving and less time travelling! The gateway for our Sudan trips is Marsa Alam airport. This is around 5 hours flying time from Gatwick. Alternatively, you can fly into Port Sudan and board your liveaboard here. Sudan is a place filled with remarkable encounters. The coral reefs are lush with hard and soft coral gardens, interspersed with large sponges and cascading whip corals. Plateaus, deep pinnacles and coral gardens are shelter and home to schools of reef fish. From tiny clown fish to swathes of snapper, there is plenty to watch. Giant barracuda and even bumphead parrot fish school... if you can take you eyes off the pelagics passing. Sudan is home to hammerhead, grey reef and thresher sharks. All this pelagic action can overshadow the outstanding wreck dive that is the Umbria.

Weather and Climate

In the North of the country, the climate has high daily temperature variations between day and night. December – February ranges from between 25- 30°C. October - November and March – April are around 3-35°C. May – September is between 30-40°C. Water temperature varies from 23°C in February to 29°C in September.
