Frequently Asked Questions

Located in the Gulf of Aqaba in the southernmost part of Jordan, Aqaba is the only port city in the country. The port dates back 4000 years and was the gateway to southern Arabia, Egypt, India and China. Surrounded by mountainous deserts, Aqaba is not far from other attractions in Jordan, such as the desert Valley of Wadi Rum and the ancient city of Petra. However, without a doubt the main attractions in Aqaba are the pristine coral reefs, which are all part of the well-protected Marine Park. Aqaba has a dry desert climate with hot and summers and warm and pleasant winters. The city is a year-round vacation destination.

Diving along the healthy Aqaba reefs is quite easy and relaxing. The 20 dive sites along the 27 km of coastline offer a variety of different dives in coral gardens, pinnacles and the famous wreck Cedar Pride. The ship wreck, with a maximum depth at 40m, is covered in soft corals, red sponges and leather corals. Discover the new wreck, the Hercules C-130, scuttled on the 16th of November 2017 in the south of the Seven Sisters and Tank. With various dive sites at a range of depths, and no current, Aqaba is the perfect destination for beginners and experienced divers alike.

Building on their 40 years' experience in Egypt, the Sinai Divers team have been been discovering and diving Aqaba since 2009. The dive centre is in a perfect spot, right on the beach front of the 5 star Movenpick Resort & Spa Tala Bay. Step right from the shore to dive on the pristine coral reefs, all part of the national Marine Park and protected.

  • Large boat M/Y Harmattan 88 departs for full day trips for divers and snorkellers
