Prevention is the key to safeguarding the health of Sandals employees and our guests. They long ago developed a sophisticated approach to preventing the spread of illnesses at Sandals resorts under the guidance of medical professionals, the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and the local Ministries of Health in each country sandals resorts are located. Sandals have dedicated Quality Inspection Teams and environmental health and safety managers at all of their resorts to make sure every procedure is in place to protect every guest and team member. Sandals resorts have always been equipped with full-service medical stations staffed daily with a registered nurse and 24/7 on-call medical personnel, but they have now upgraded these facilities to include the appropriate equipment and supplies needed to address new protocols.

Fully vaccinated people (2 doses administered more than 14 days prior to arrival or single dose where only one dose administered) are not required to complete a pre-arrival COVID-19 test and will not be subject to testing* or quarantine on arrival. Once you have completed a health check and your documentation (proof of vaccination status) has been validated, you will be free to move around Barbados unhindered.

A number of fully vaccinated arrivals will be randomly chosen to have a rapid antigen test. There is no requirement to quarantine, as the result will be made available very quickly.

All passengers are also required to submit an Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) card 24 hours prior to travel, to which they should upload their negative test result via Travel Form. The BIMSafe app can also be used.

Barbados will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.

Unvaccinated travellers from the UK must present on arrival either:
a valid RT-PCR COVID-19 negative test result taken no more than 3 days in advance of your flight’s arrival. The test can be taken at any time during the day 3 days prior to the date of your arrival in Barbados. (For example, if your flight arrives at 10pm on Saturday, you can take a test at any time on the Wednesday prior to this)
a valid Rapid PCR COVID-19 negative test result taken one day before arrival in Barbados
a valid Rapid Antigen negative test result taken one day before arrival in Barbados

Weather and Climate

There are two main seasons in Barbados - the wet season and dry season. The wet season is typically July until December, but most rainfall passes quickly are very brief and air temperatures remain warm from 24C up to 29C at this time. The most popular time to visit is during dry season from January to early June. Rainfall is much lower and air temperatures are a bit cooler. Water temps are actually higher in the wet season with an average sea temp of around 28C. It cools off in January, falling to 26C, before rising again towards the summer months.

Flight options

There are direct flights from London to Barbados with BA and Virgin. This is usually a daily service that runs all year round. We are able to book most major airlines. If you have a specific airline you prefer to fly with, simply let us know in your booking request. A supplement may apply for regional departures. Times and any applicable supplements will be confirmed by your travel consultant before you finalise your holiday. If you wish to make your own flight arrangements to Jamaica, let us know and we can remove the cost of the international flights from your quote. We are unfortunately not able to redeem airmiles on your behalf. Please do not confirm any flight arrangements yourself before your holiday is confirmed by us

Regular Entry Requirements

British Passport holders do not need a visa to visit Barbados. On entry, you will be granted a specified period to stay as a tourist only. Do ensure your passport has 6 months validity from your return date to prevent any issues with immigration. Insurance

Scuba Travel requires all of our customers to have diving insurance. Please make sure that you have appropriate cover for your diving activities. We also strongly recommend you have travel insurance. It's worth taking out travel insurance once you have paid your deposit to ensure you are covered for unforeseen events and cancellation. You will be able to manage your booking online once you have been ticketed (after you have paid your holiday balance). Most airlines will now enable you to select your seating at this point. What happens when I arrive?

On arrival in Barbados, you will need to clear immigration and collect your baggage. You will then be met by a representative of Sandals. They will be clearly identifiable at the airport. Deposits and Balances

Sandals holidays departing more than 71days in advance can be secured with a £175 deposit pp. If departing less 71 you will need the full balance to be paid at the time of booking.

Ways to pay

We accept mastercard and visa debit or credit cards. If you would like a pay by link to complete check out via email please let us know and it can be set up for you. We do not take AMEX. All non sterling card payments and UK business debit cards will be subject to the 3% surcharge. Alternatively, you are welcome to pay via bank transfer. Overseas bank transfers must add £8 to the sterling total to cover international handling fees. We are not able to accept PayPal transactions or personal cheques.

Group Payments

If you have booked as part of a group, you can still call and pay directly without needing to go via your group leader. Please have your trip reference number to hand to help us locate your holiday as quickly as possible. You will receive a transaction receipt - your group leader will forward your ATOL certificate and booking confirmation

BERWYN: CARLISLE BAY

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 20ft | Max Depth: 70ft

(World War 1 French)Tug Boat sunk in 1919 by her own crew. The Berwyn sits between 7 and 10 feet below the surface depending on the tide. As a result of the calm water in the bay and the age of this wreck the Berwyn is covered in marine life including healthy hard and soft coral growth and their associated reef creatures.

EILLON: CARLISLE BAY

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 55ft | Max Depth: 0ft

This 110ft drug boat was tied up for ~6 years in the Bridgetown careenage before it was sunk on 8th June 1996 in Carlisle Bay Marine Park. The wreck is easily accessible for penetration and has an air pocket in the bow big enough to a conversation at 25' under.

BAJAN QUEEN: CARLISLE BAY

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 35ft | Max Depth: 0ft

She was Barbados' first tugboat named the "Pelican" when the Bridgetown Harbour was being constructed in the 1960's. A decade later, as more modern tugboats were purchased; the Pelican was then converted to a party boat called "Bajan Queen". The Bajan Queen holds many memories for thousands of Barbadians and visitors alike. After years of operation as the party spot the Bajan Queen was donated to the Coastal Zone Management Unit. From there with the assistance of our very own Andre Miller the Bajan Queen was cleaned up and sunk on 19th May 2002 in Carlisle Bay Marine Park. She now sits only a few feet below the surface and is accumulating some excellent fish life and good coral diversity.

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 20ft | Max Depth: 60ft

Off Rockley Beach ~ 20' - 60' ~ Shallow reef dive good for novice divers and photographers. Regular sightings of large schools of Bermuda Chubs on this dive.

East Coast

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 20ft | Max Depth: 130ft

Consett Bay to Bathsheba ~ 30' - 130' ~ On the Atlantic side of the island, there are about ten(10) different sites available depending on the weather conditions as seas are usually rough. Best times are in the summer months. Plenty of big fish including sharks can be seen here.

Dottins

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 40ft | Max Depth: 100ft

Off Holetown ~ 40' - 100' ~ This is a very popular reef, it has beautiful corals, barracuda, bar jacks, yellowtails and turtles can be found regularly on this dive. You can dive this site on more than one occasion and not be tired of it. One of the more popular of the dive sites on the west coast.

The Deep

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 60ft | Max Depth: 130ft

Break off from Castle Bank A barrier reef with a slow drop off on either side, great for macro photography(lots of barracudas) Deep drift dive, good for photography with lots of fish life.

Off Drill Hall ~ 50ft - 120ft ~ A barrier reef with a slow drop off on either side, great for macro photography(lots of barracudas).

Castle Bank

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 60ft | Max Depth: 120ft

Off Hastings ~60ft - 120ft~ A barrier reef with a drop off on both sides of the reef. Lots of barracudas, snapper and cavalee may be seen on this reef

Highwire

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 70ft | Max Depth: 120ft

Off Dover ~ 70' - 120' ~ This reef is between Mount Charlie and Close Encounters. There are underwater cables that are suspended over this reef. Plenty of small creatures can be found good location for photography.

Victors

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 50ft | Max Depth: 120ft

Off Fitts Village ~ 50' - 120' ~ This reef is located on the outer side of the Stavronikita. One of the more underrated reefs in Barbados not dived on very often. Soft and hard corals combine to make this site very different.

Johnsons

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 70ft | Max Depth: 80ft

Off Paynes Bay ~ 70' - 80' ~ A typical west coast reef, well worth a dive as the corals remain as beautiful as ever harboring all the small reef creatures often missed when you are concentrating on not missing bigger fish. Abundant with soft corals, barrel sponges, tube sponges, and a large variety of schooling tropical fish, barracudas, turtles, parrot fish, and much more. Very consistent conditions make this a popular dive site.
