About Bunaken Oasis Resort

Bunaken Oasis is a boutique dive resort which has been lovingly designed and built by British couple Simon & Elaine Wallace, who had 1 simple goal - to create a dive resort whose every aspect meets your exacting requirements for quality and 5-star service service, both on land and in the sea. Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort provides you with the ultimate in dive convenience. Located on Bunaken island at the westerly extreme of Liang Beach, you can access some of the finest wall, muck and reef diving the area has to offer.

This is an exclusive resort. There are only 12 large, traditionally built private villas. Each boasts its own unique vista out over the beach towards the mainland. The majority of the villas have king double beds, with an additional 2-bedroom family villa. Twin beds available on request. There is also a 2-storey villa with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. No detail - no matter how small or seemingly insignificant - has been overlooked in the building of Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort. Comfy sofas, stunning, indoor en-suite bathrooms, a Krups coffee machine, high quality toiletries and free laundry service are just some of the perks that come as standard. Combining high class elegance with as small an ecological footprint has been no mean feat.

The resort itself is set amid tranquil gardens. Meander between the spa and freeform infinity pool. At the end of each relaxing day, the multi-level cocktail bar is the place to be before you make your way to dinner. The restaurant is right next door. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here, with mouth-watering gourmet Asian and western cuisine and fantastic sea views. There's no need to compromise here. It's time to kick back and enjoy your stay at Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort.

Bunaken resort offers 12 large, traditionally-built 70sqm cottages, including one villa near the Long House for those who may have difficulty walking. All cottages have air-conditioning, Krups coffee machine, hot and cold water dispenser, bluetooth speaker, Samsung tablet, minifridge, safe and large balcony with stunning mainland and sea views. Beds have been hand made and are extra long!

Family Cottages

The resort has one two-storey luxury cottage, with separate access, ideal for families with older children, or friends travelling together.

Towards the rear of the resort is our tranquil Spa; wind down after a days diving by choosing a massage from our extensive menu of treatments

Above the Long House is a spectacular free form infinity pool, ideal for who might choose to relax and catch some sun rather than dive

Thank you so much for a truly wonderful week at the resort. The accomodations were everything we could have wanted very comfortable and clean. All of the staff, both resort and dive centre were very welcoming, helpful and gracious. It feels like a great family of staff and we are pleased to have been part of this family for a week. We will certainly recommend the resort to all our friends and diving acquaintances.

Our week at Bunaken was beyond exceptional. The facility itself and especially the room / cottage was beautiful and the staff iare friendly, considerate and helpful. Our dive experience was fabulous and not only because of the wonderful dive sites. The service provided on the dive boat was the best we ever experienced and the crew were very attentive. This was absolutely the best vacation we've ever had. THANK YOU.

Just returned home from Bunaken a couple of hours ago. Well, I do not know where to start so lets just start by saying I and all the other members of the group were totally blown away with the Resort. It is the best Resort I think I have ever visited. It is also the best food and the best staff. It has the best attention to detail to provide what enthusiastic underwater photographers want and require. For example the Camera room downstairs totally blew me away when I first walked in. They have the best dive boats that I can think of and again catered for the needs of underwater photographers. The two dive guides which were assigned to us when we arrived choose some ideal sites for us again and again. The group were also very impressed with the quality and variety of all the meals. It was 100% throughout our stay. To conclude, I will be contacting Caroline from Scuba Travel on Monday to arrange to revisit the resort at a similar time next year.

A truly special place that stole my heart! This is an absolute gem and truly magical. The diving is fantastic - you are spoilt for choice in terms of dive sites - coral reefs, walls and muck diving is all on your doorstep which means it's suitable for all levels of diver. The currents can be great fun but with viz of around 50metres not uncommon, its just a dream to dive here. The resort is stunning - the rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, and so well equipped - you will literally want for nothing. However, the best thing about this place is the people. The most amazing team of experienced hotel staff you'll ever meet. The knowledge and experience these guys have shows all the time. I cried when I left!!! I miss it terribly and long to be back there! This place really has stolen a piece of my heart and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful dive resort - The diving is spectacular, great viz, beautiful coral reefs and abundant fish life - from the tiny to the big. The diving is well organised from the well designed dive boats to the helpful boat crew. A lot of care has gone into the design of the resort itself, being set in beautiful gardens on a hillside so each of the cottages has a superb view across the gardens and bay. The cottages are wonderful - well equipped, spacious, clean and comfortable. The pool and poolside are great - just perfect for chilling out after diving. The food is fantastic. The Spa, is not to be missed - the massage was so relaxing. But the best thing about the resort are the staff, they are all so welcoming and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. They all made us feel so special during our stay. It was sad to say goodbye at the end of our stay - we can't wait to return to this truly special place.

The Oasis Bunaken for me was Paradise! from the moment you land you are treated like royalty - so should you really want to unwind and chill out this is the perfect Resort. The food, drink and staff are out of this world, anything you want isnít to much trouble. You want a fresh towel and a cocktail by the pool no problem! The dive crew and boats are spectacular all beautifully built, and fast meaning there is no time wasted on route to the dive sites. The dive sites are like plopping into an Aquarium! There are no words to describe something so brilliantly built the only way you will really find out what makes the Bunaken Oasis is so special is to go and experience it yourselves.†

My holiday was pretty much perfect (you canít control the weather or aquatic life), this resort is outstanding. Having read the previous reviews I was expecting a luxurious, 5 star resort. I was not disappointed. A beautiful resort is nothing without the people and Oasis has developed an exceptional team. The camera room is the best I have ever experienced in my 16 years of diving. The dive guides are all local to Bunaken/Manado and have an unparalleled knowledge of every single one of the 80 or so dive sites available.

I had a fantastic week of diving at Bunaken Oasis Resort in early September. The resort is beautiful, tranquil and a great place to relax, unwind and do some serious diving. The reef is beautiful and you are so close to some exceptional dives sites. I completed my advance diving qualification and faced my fears and did my first night dive. All the staff are attentive and the fresh food is delicious. The diving kit is top rate and the local experience and professional diving service is first class. I could not recommend this place more. What a stunning location, resort and diving that is hard to beat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Indonesia is around 15-20 hours flight from the UK and is made up of around 18 000 islands. It is the largest archipelago in the world straddling the Equator, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Most travellers will enter Indonesia through Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS) or Manado (MDC) airports. This is the stuff of divers' dreams. This exotic nation is the very definition of bio diversity. Find the big fish in Komodo, Raja Ampat or Kalimantan. Drift lazily along the walls of Bunaken and Wakatobi, watching turtles on coral drenched walls. While away the hours hunting for miniscule macro in Bali, Lembeh or Ambon. Cannot decide? Why not combine two locations into a single trip!

Weather and Climate

Indonesia is a vast country, and the weather can be hugley variable. The topography means that weather patterns can be very localised. This is the tropics! For Bali, Komodo & Wakatobi the weather is usually best from April - November, with July and August being some of the best months to visit. Between December and March the conditions can be a bit stormy. November to April is also the wettest month to visit Bunaken, Lembeh and Kalimantan but to a lesser degree than in other locations. October to April is historically the most popular time to dive in Raja Ampat.

Flight options

Our holidays to Indonesia can be quoted with most major airlines. We are however able to book most major airlines. Popular options for Indonesia include Cathay Pacific (40kgs hold allowance), Singapore airlines, Qatar, Emirates, Malaysian, KLM and Gaurda. If you would like to depart from a different UK airport (eg. Glasgow/Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham or Gatwick) or have a specific airline you prefer to fly with, simply let us know in your booking request. A supplement may apply for regional departures. Times and any applicable supplements will be confirmed by your travel consultant before you finalise your holiday.† If you wish to make your own flight arrangements to Indonesia, let us know and we can remove the cost of the international flights from your quote. We are unfortunately not able to redeem airmiles on your behalf. Please do not confirm any flight arrangements yourself before your holiday is confirmed by us.

With a huge range of airlines to fly with, you can easily build in a stop over either on your way to or on your way back from Indonesia. Simply talk to your travel consultant about adding a stop over into your itinerary.

What happens when I arrive?

On arrival in your Indonesia destination, you will need to clear immigration and collect your baggage. You will then be met outside of arrivals by a representative from your liveaboard or resort. Some reps are able to meet you airside. They will be holding a board with either your destination or your name on it. If you have any issues at all locating your rep, please contact us. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.

If you have a hotel en route please follow any specific instructions in your travel documents. Where possible, you will be met by a representative who will assist in taking you to your hotel. If using a shuttle service, please arrange your return shuttle time back to the airport at the hotel check in. Domestic flights are common in Indonesia and run frequently. The major hubs of Jakarta, Bali and Manado all have separate terminals for domestic and international departures. Just follow the signs to move between international and domestic terminals. The service has improved vastly, but there can still be last minute schedule changes. Please ensure you leave plenty of time for check in or transit between flights (usually 4 hours min). Domestic flights can typically only be booked with a 20kgs hold allowance as standard. Excess baggage must be paid for in Indonesian rupiah and costs around $2-$5 per kg per way. Due to local traffic and road conditions, land journey times can be difficult to predict. We recommend you take water with you and keep any essentials in your hand baggage to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

At the end of your holiday, your return transfer details will be advised locally. As of Feb 2015, the departure tax for all domestic and international flights is built into your flight ticket price.
