About Casa Mia

In the past few years, a new style of holiday has opened up in the Maldives - local island resorts offer value for money in prime locations throughout the Maldives. Casa Mia is situated on the tip of Mathiveri island in North Ari and aims to give guests and authentic Maldivian experience from start to finish. A short seaplane ride from Male and you are there! Feel the warmth of the white sands between your toes or listen to the wave gently lap the shores of island. Escape the modern world and experience island living the way it should be.

Casa Mia is an intimate resort with only 24 rooms. All are modern, stylish and spacious with the option of either a beach room (ground floor), sea view or garden view rooms spread across 2 wings. Each room has air con as standard and can be arranged with either double or twin beds. None of the rooms have a TV. The beach front and sea view rooms are arranged in 2 storey blocks, with 1 room of each in each block. The standard rooms are in the new resort wing, whilst the deluxe rooms are in the original wing - please confirm at the time of booking if you have a preference. Surrounded by lush gardens and right on the beach front, Casa Mia is ideal for single travellers, groups or couples looking for the big fish action that makes the Maldives so famous.

The stunning blue waters around Casa Mia are impossible to resist! A short swim from the beach is a tiny private island where you can soak up the rays or snorkel. Or join one of the optional local excursions for a tour of the town, water skiing, wake boarding or sailing. If you are celebrating, make sure you try the sunset champagne dinner (local charges apply to all excursions). There is even a floating bar for your even sundowners! If you are love action packed diving, lazing in the sun or want to spend you time exploring the local island life, Casa Mia makes the Maldives more affordable than ever.

Please be aware: as Casa Mia is located on a local island, there is no alcohol permitted in the resort itself. There is "boozy boat" with a fully stocked bar moored close to the resort and transfers run throughout the day so you can enjoy a tipple at any point in your holiday.

Just returned from a wonderful, relaxing eight night stay here. This Guest houses greatest strength is its simplicity. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable air conditioned-rooms overlook a private beach surrounded by a blue lagoon with the clearest sparkling water. A small outdoor pool over looks the beach and sea and a pleasant seating area adjoins the restaurant. We slept well, ate well and dived every day. The food was superb! We walked to the harbour each morning to join a large diving boat. Our kit was pre delivered to the boat each day. Our excellent knowledgeable dive guides escorted us to wonderful dive sites where we observed manta, sharks and a large variety of fish! We enjoyed our stay so much we did not want to leave and will definitely return next year.

We went to Casa Mia for 3 days after a 10day livaboard dive trip to chill and we did. Their private beach is so peaceful and so is the hotel grounds. Mary and her staff were extremely helpful and obliging. The food was good and was plentiful. We did miss a glass of wine with our dinner but hey ho it wasn't to much of a sacrifice for 3 days. We also did an extra days diving, diving was great, very relaxed diving, dive guides highly recommend. The rooms were large, spacious and extremely clean and great air con. Highly recommend casa mia

The resort is a nice small one located on one of the local islands, only 10 double rooms (thought they are expanding.) this makes it a really cozy resort. There are few guests because of the small size of the resort and the staff is friendly and helpful. As I don't like big hotels with lots of tourists, this makes Casa Mia perfect for my taste. After a week with liveaboard diving we had a week on Casa Mia with diving day trips (2-3 dives a day). The guides knew the dive sites and where to find the good stuff and they were fun and friendly. Night dive at Maaya Thila is highly recommended :)

Thanks Ivan, one of the best dive instructors that I have ever met in my life. Really. The dives are awesome. Although I could not see mantas or whalesharks, such oceanic giants, I could still see lots of big sharks, big rays (eagle, sting, marble)... lots of fishes, corals... beautiful. The staff of Casa Mia were friendly and provided good service, starting from the airport greeting staff up to the restaurant waiters. They were so nice. I was well-blessed as during my short stay, the weather was very good, the sun was burning and everywhere was bright blue!!! Really lucky. I feel I'm well-blessed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Location

The Maldives is in the Indian Ocean, a 10-14hr flight from the UK, around 370 miles southwest of Sri Lanka. It is made up of 1200 islands, stretching over 500 miles from north to south. The main arrival airport for all flights to the Maldives is Male's airport island (MLE). The Maldives is famous for its great snorkelling, manta cleaning stations, whalesharks, shark dives and fast drift dives through channels. The water remains a constant 27-28 C year round.

Weather and Climate

Whilst there are 2 monsoon seasons (Nov-Apr & May-Oct), the diving remains excellent year round. Diving operators will changes their dive sites in each season to find the best hot spots for the big fish! Traditionally, our summer months tend to be windier with a higher chance of rain, whilst the winter months are flatter. However, the seasons are much less predictable in reality and its a fabulous place to dive whatever time of year!

Travel

Flight options

Our holidays to the Maldives can be quoted with most major airlines. If you would like to depart from a regional UK airport (eg. Glasgow/Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham or Gatwick) or have a specific airline you prefer to fly with, simply let us know in your booking request. If you make your own flight arrangements to Male, please check the transfer arrangements before confirming your flights. Please do not finalise any flight arrangements yourself before your liveaboard space is confirmed as being held.

Stopovers

As most flights are not direct, it is simple to add a stop over en route - simply ask your travel consultant for a quote. Sri Lanka is our most popular, up coming destination - with beautiful beaches, it's a great alternative to staying in the Maldives resorts. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, why not head into the jungle for look for elephants and leopards. Or if you are a culture vulture, we highly recommend a Kandy city tour. The choice is yours! As we are able to book most major airlines to the Maldives, you can also add a stop to break up your flight. Popular locations include Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.

They will be holding a board with either your destination or your name on it. If you have any issues at all locating your rep, please turn left from arrivals and go to the information desk at Male airport. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.
