Leo is light and bright Maldives liveaboard that runs weekly departures to dive the classic Best of the Maldives. She's a popular choice for those looking for a great, affordable liveaboard. Free nitrox is just one of the reasons divers love the on board package. Measuring 35m, she happily accommodates 24 divers in 12 ensuite cabins with double and twin arrangements. Leo is a stylish boat, with contrasting wooden decor throughout the entire vessel including the cabins. There are 2 double and 2 double twin/ and 4 twin cabins on the lower deck. 3 double/twin cabins are found on the upper deck, along with the executive cabin, the largest on board. All of the cabins have air con, with en suite with hair dryers available. The communal areas on board Leo are generous, with a large air conditioned saloon and dining area with bar. All meals and briefings are here. Spend your surface intervals drinking in the sun's ray on the fly deck. As all diving on Leo is done from the large 19.8m dhoni tender that will get you in the perfect spot for all that pelagic action each and every time. She is one of the few rebreather friendly Maldives liveaboards. Snorkellers are also welcomed on board, and will receive a free snorkelling kit and $50 on board voucher to spend. If you require a PCR test to return to the UK: Emperor Divers Maldives are able to arrange a PCR test onboard for the Male to Male trips. The cost of the PCR test is 100usd, and this is subject to change. Emperor will aim to arrange the tests within 72 hours of departure in general. The cost of the test will be paid directly to the hospital. How this will work will differ week to week and will depend on factors such as timings, boat location, and the number of guests requiring the test. Emperor will of course do our best to limit the impact on any diving schedule, however, depending on the above factors, this cannot be guaranteed. Emperor cannot be held responsible in any way for unavailability of tests or delayed results. Therefore, travel insurance is highly recommended to cover the possibility of unavailability of test/delayed result/positive result which may disrupt onward journey.

Our Deep South Southern Sharks itinerary will take you to down to the the southerly atolls in the Maldives on a liveaboard holiday that is anything but ordinary. Get in on the shark action of the secluded southern dive sites around Huvadhoo area. Spend a week in isolated paradise as you dive these remote south atolls looking for the ocean's larger inhabitants - silver tips, grey reef sharks and even whalesharks.
The best way to dive the southern atolls is to combine your liveaboard with a domestic flight. All of the trips will include a domestic flight at least 1 way and the exact departure/arrival airport will vary from trip to trip. On most trips this means you will dive either between Male and Huvadhoo or Male and Gaan depending on which fleet you select. Some itineraries may require 2 domestic flights, diving between Laamu, Huvadhoo and/or Gan. On itineraries where you travel down to Gaan, you may also dive at Fommulah and Addu atolls.
On this itinerary you may dive Meemu, Thaa and Laamu, with opportunities for coral dives and a manta cleaning station, and pay special attention to Huvadhoo atoll - this is where the pelagic action begins in earnest. Prepare to come face to face with sharks. The lagoon inside Huvadhoo is one of the deepest in the Maldives and the shifting currents are ideal for shark sightings, including whalesharks. Silkies, hammerheads and grey sharks are all seen most weeks. These are the kind of sightings that will make your dive log stand out! There are speedy channel dives with several Kandus (Vilingilli, Nilandhoo, Mareehaa and Kondeey) as well as reef thila dives (Gazeera and Vaadhoo). The night dive on the Hyatt reef should not be missed!
The Deep South Southern Sharks atolls itinerary will suit any diver that has explored the north and central Maldives but not yet ventured this far south. Fewer divers travel this way. Due to the remote nature of the dive sites, the Deep South Southern Sharks itinerary is more suitable for experienced divers (100+ dives) and there is a good focus on drift diving. Dive into the shark action on the southern dive sites between Huvadhoo and Laamu on board Emperor Leo. This is a seasonal route for more experienced divers, offering an average of 17 dives (including 1 night dive). You have 7 nights on board on a full board basis (twin/double share cabin) - upper deck cabin upgrades available. All trips are fully guided with expert guides and include 12lt tank and weights, as well as free recreational nitrox. To pay on board are alcoholic drinks, fruit juice, fizzy drinks, additional kit hire and any on board souvenirs. Do let us know if you would like to prebook any courses or kit hire on board, or have any dietary requirements. Return Male airport transfers and domestic flights between Male and the southern atolls are included in your package. You have booked a holiday excluding international flights. We are able to add flights with a wide range of airlines, including regional departures. Flights will incur small booking fee. Please ask your consultant for competitive quote for any flight option. Do not book any flights until your boat space is confirmed by Scuba Travel. Transfers operate at fixed times.
