FULLY REFITTED FOR 2018: Images coming soon! Hurricane stands out in the Egyptian Red Sea - and not just because she is one of the few steel hulled vessels. Many Red Sea liveaboards are compared to Hurricane, but few are as enduringly popular. She has won the prestigious "Liveaboard of the Year" award no less than 5 times (including 2017 & 2016).

We are really pleased for the guides and crew of Hurricane for winning Liveaboard of the Year for the second year running. This is no mean feat and can only be achieved with a vast amount of hard work all around. The season diving wise down south has been an epic one. The food on board is fab, and we never have hungry divers. And she's quick! These are the areas that beat other boats and why Hurricane has picked up such an accolade. Customers keep coming back to this boat for more, and more. And voted for her above all others

Hurricane is currently in Dry dock (November to mid February 2018) being completely refitted with new bathrooms, new air-conditioning, carpets, sofas and more. Follow Tornado Marine on facebook for pictures!

At 36m there is bags of space on board Hurricane. No detail was over looked when she was built and she is continually renovated to maintain the highest standards. There are 11 cabins in total spilt over the main and lower deck. The 4 main deck cabins are a mix of twin or double beds (with an additional single bed). The lower deck cabins are all twins apart from the bow cabins, which have a double bed and additional single bed. Cabins are allocated at the time of booking so do ask your travel consultant if you have a specific request. All have individual air con, en suite bathrooms, a fridge and safe box.

You will instantly recognise what has become the Tornado Marine Fleet signature design. The dining and saloon areas are divided to provide optimum comfort at all stages of the trip. Upstairs opens up into the AC saloon with the bar, flat screen and seating area. Outside there is a seated deck (ideal for your post dive tales), the upper sun deck and loungers and jacuzzi. Down on the dive deck extras include an air gun for cameras, high pressure gas bending facilities (including trimix), nitrox compressor and gear storage. The steel hull and low dive platform make Hurricane a stable ride in even the bumpiest of weather and entry and exits are easy. Hurricane has it all - and it is easy to see just why divers fall in love with her.

Itinerary Details

Shark Quest Photography Description

Shark Quest Photography is a trip dedicated to looking for the best shark photo opportunities. There is a great variety of shark species that live in the Red Sea and this itinerary seeks to spend longer at sites where you have the very best chances to get killer shots. The itinerary is flexible and the reefs we visit will be selected in conjunction with the expert dive guides based on their local knowledge and resent sightings. Head to the sites where the sightings have been strongest at that time of year! Then let the magic happen. Keep your cool when the adrenaline is pumping and evolve your photography to take stunning shark shots!

Who is this for
Photographers of all levels are welcome, including compact and mirrorless users. Mario is an ex red sea dive guide, and with his experienced and friendly approach, will be at hand to assist with any camera or editing questions you may have.

On top of advice and tips, Mario will give a daily lecture covering techniques to photograph sharks, ambient light and photo editing. This is predominately a wide angle trip so a wet lens or wide angle set up is helpful. You don't need strobes, but 1 or 2 can be a great addition to your rig.

Diving highlights
From October to March Oceanic Whitetip move from the open seas close to the offshore reefs in the Southern Red Sea and are a very common sight in shallow water at sites such as Daedalus, The Brothers and Elphinstone. Oceanic whitetips sharks and without a doubt the highlight of this trip. Thanks to their inquisitive nature, get ready for the close up!

But Longimanus are not the only visitors on these reefs. Hammerheads, grey reefs and occasional threshers also live on the deep walls. You don't have to dive deep to find them though!

Sharks are the stars of this photo workshop. But in the southern Red Sea, let's not forget dolphins and turtles, ever present around so many of the Red Sea's reef systems.

All photographs for this itinerary were taken in July 2017 by Mario see more about Mario by clicking here
