Oman's winter hot spot boasts humpback whales, manta, rays, reef sharks and big balls of reef fish wait on unspoilt reefs. It's time to discover the Hallaniyat islands on board the luxurious Oman Aggressor.
Hallaniyat Islands are located off the south eastern coast of Oman. This is a new area for liveaboard divers and the coral reefs are in sublime condition. New dive sites and wrecks can be discovered all the time. Diving highlights are undoubtedly the opportunity to see the resident population of humpback whales but also includes encounters with manta rays and sperm whales. The Hallaniyat Islands are an undiscovered diving region where you can expect everything!
Sightings change throughout the year. November and December are the best months for giant oceanic mantas. From January, the focus switches to the humpbacks. The whale sightings continue into April, alongside great encounters with yellowfin tuna, barracuda and school jacks. Huge schools of dolphin are often seen as well as green turtles. Giant groupers, giant catfish and mobulas are commonly encountered. Watch out for leopard sharks on the reefs. Octopus hide in the reef walls. The islands boast a healthy marine life with awesome coral gardens where schooling fish swirl.
This is an accessible itinerary for everyone, but we recommend divers have advanced certifications. Sites can descend down to 28m and the spring months can have some currents. Jan to March are when conditions are calmest. The diving is both from the main liveaboard and tenders. There are up to 5 dives a day, which includes night diving.
