About Kuredu Island & Pro Divers

Kuredu is an island where the diving sits on your doorstep. The fine white sand gives way to an aquamarine house reef. Perched in the northern tip of the Lhaviyani Atoll and just a 40 minute scenic seaplane transfer from Male, the resort focuses on personal service and laid back fun. Its northern atoll location, great diving and combo of dining and relaxation are just some of the reasons Kuredu has been a popular choice throughout the years.

There are 7 different room grades to chose from in Kuredu - garden bungalows, beach bungalows, beach villas, jacuzzi beach villa, sangu water villas and the private pool villas! If you are going to spend all day out diving or hitting the beach, we suggest either the garden bungalows or beach bungalows. These are great value with all the facilities you could need. If you are spending more time on the island, why not upgrade to the beach villa or "O" beach villa! The O resort is an adult only resort within Kuredu with its own dedicated restaurant and pool. Indulge in your own private jacuzzi in the jacuzzi beach villas or O jacuzzi beach villas. The sangu water villas are perched right on the edge of the Indian ocean with the most magnificent views of all. Watch baby rays race over the reef from your private veranda. The Private pool villas have their own private pool, set in lush gardens. All of the rooms are set up with double beds as standard but a second bed can be arranged for twin shares - please make sure you request this at the time of booking.

Kuredu boasts a number of buffet and a la carte restaurants, 6 bars, the Sai Kotari tea house and Sangu Wine Cellar. And with all inclusive as standard on our package, the week will flow stress free. You will be designated a restaurant on arrival (depending on room grade) but there are also a la carte options. The on site spa is a sanctuary in the heart of the resort. There is even a 9 hole golf course! Splash in the pool or check out the new and improved on site watersports centre, with kit surfing and wind surfing. So no matter if you are staying for a few days or your whole holiday, there is something for everyone at Kuredu.

Sangu water villa

Their ideal location at the sunset side of the island makes them a preferred accommodation option to all those seeking romance and seclusion. The living room is spacious and elegantly decorated so that it complements their romantic setting above the ocean. The Sangu Water Villas provide comfortable indoor luxury along with the charmingly furnished sundeck and steps down to the balmy water of the Indian Ocean.

Jacuzzi beach villa

Koamas Jacuzzi Beach Villas are located at the main beach, left of the jetty, nearby the island's main area with its dining, recreation and entertainment venues. Allocated restaurant: Koamas. Sangu Jacuzzi Beach Villas are part of the Sangu resort, close to the Water Villas and facilities of the Sangu resort. Allocated restaurant: Sangu. 'O' Jacuzzi Beach Villas are in the proximity of the 'O' Resort in the south-east part of the island. Allocated restaurant: 'O' Restaurant.

Komaas Beach bungalow

The prime location on the beach and the proximity to the main island facilities are the winning attributes of these villas. Together with plenty of indoor space for you to seek shade and relax, they are the perfect Maldivian home away from home and let you enjoy everything you like about Kuredu even more when you realise you've made the right choice when booking yourself into one of the Koamas Beach Villas.

Bonthi garden bungalow

The neat bungalows, lined up along the north-east side of the island, are outfitted with rattan furniture, feature a spacious open-air bathroom with a walk-in shower and a shady outdoor sitting area. Being only a short walk from the north beach and minutes from Kuredu's main area, the Bonthi Garden Bungalows are the preferred choice of those guests who are looking for reasonable prices of accommodation and proximity to the island's main dining, entertainment and sports venues. As it was our honeymoon we got upgraded to a beach villa - beautiful. Great food and lots of things to do on the island. The outside bathroom was really lovely. We paid extra for the gold all inclusive - would definitely recommend this - you get any cocktails you want, and various other extras such a as a meal in the a la carte restaurant, games of golf and tennis...

Frequently Asked Questions

The Maldives is in the Indian Ocean, a 10-14hr flight from the UK, around 370 miles southwest of Sri Lanka. It is made up of 1200 islands, stretching over 500 miles from north to south. The main arrival airport for all flights to the Maldives is Male's airport island (MLE). The Maldives is famous for its great snorkelling, manta cleaning stations, whalesharks, shark dives and fast drift dives through channels. The water remains a constant 27-28 C year round.

Weather and Climate

Whilst there are 2 monsoon seasons (Nov-Apr & May-Oct), the diving remains excellent year round. Diving operators will changes their dive sites in each season to find the best hot spots for the big fish! Traditionally, our summer months tend to be windier with a higher chance of rain, whilst the winter months are flatter. However, the seasons are much less predictable in reality and its a fabulous place to dive whatever time of year!

Flight options

Our holidays to the Maldives can be quoted with most major airlines. If you would like to depart from a regional UK airport (eg. Glasgow/Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham or Gatwick) or have a specific airline you prefer to fly with, simply let us know in your booking request. If you make your own flight arrangements to Male, please check the transfer arrangements before confirming your flights. Please do not finalise any flight arrangements yourself before your liveaboard space is confirmed as being held.

As most flights are not direct, it is simple to add a stop over en route - simply ask your travel consultant for a quote. Sri Lanka is our most popular, up coming destination - with beautiful beaches, it's a great alternative to staying in the Maldives resorts. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, why not head into the jungle for look for elephants and leopards. Or if you are a culture vulture, we highly recommend a Kandy city tour. The choice is yours! As we are able to book most major airlines to the Maldives, you can also add a stop to break up your flight. Popular locations include Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.

What happens when I arrive?

On arrival in the Maldives, you will need to clear immigration and collect your baggage. You will then be met outside of arrivals by a representative from your liveaboard or resort. They will be holding a board with either your destination or your name on it. If you have any issues at all locating your rep, please turn left from arrivals and go to the information desk at Male airport. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.

If your holiday begins in Male you will be met and taken to your boat. The transfer takes around 20mins. Many of our Maldives holidays will include either a domestic flight or seaplane transfer. It takes approx 45mins -1 hour to clear immigration and collect your baggage at Male airport. We endeavour to keep the transit between flights as short as possible and your transfer will normally take place within 3 hours of your international arrival, but please be aware, you may have to wait at the airport between flights. The domestic terminal is right next door to arrivals. This has AC, bathrooms and a small cafe. You will usually be met by a rep, who will assist you in moving between the terminals. The baggage allowance on domestic flights is typically 20kgs hold and 5kgs hand baggage. Excess baggage is charged locally $2-$5/kg. The seaplane check in desk is to your right on exiting the arrivals hall. You will check your bag in here and then be transferred to the seaplane terminal by bus. This has AC, bathrooms, a small cafe and shop. The seaplanes run regularly throughout the day and due to the way the scheduling is organised, the exact time of your seaplane cannot be confirmed prior to arrival in Male. Seaplanes do not run in the dark - the fist seaplane is around 06:00 Male time and ends around 16:00 Male time. The baggage allowance on seaplane flights is typically 20kgs hold and 5kgs hand baggage. Excess baggage is charged locally $2-$5/kg.

You will be taken back to Male airport in time for your international flight. Domestic flights and seaplanes will arrive in time for you to make your connections. Typically you will arrive at the airport 1 1/2- 2 hours before your flight time. There is currently no departure tax when leaving the Maldives.
