The greatest wreck dive in the world
A British WWII armed merchant ship, the SS Thistlegorm was sunk by German bombers in the Strait of Gubal in October 1941. Today she sits upright in clear Red Sea water with her holds still packed with wartime cargo — a genuine underwater museum, and the dive that tops most divers’ bucket lists.
An underwater museum
First found by Jacques Cousteau and rediscovered by recreational divers in the 1990s, the Thistlegorm lies between roughly 16 and 32 metres — suiting a wide range of certified divers, with the main deck and cargo holds accessible to most and deeper sections for the more experienced.

Is it right for me?
The Thistlegorm works for a broad range of certified divers. The shallower decks and cargo holds are within reach of most, while the deeper stern, propeller and locomotives reward more experienced divers. Our guides brief the wreck thoroughly and tailor each dive to the group.
