Frequently Asked Questions

Fiji is in the South Pacific Ocean, east of Vanuata and west of Tonga. It is made up of some 322 islands, of which only a third or so are inhabited! The main arrival point for all travllers is Nadi, with the city of Suva being the other large focal point on the main island Viti Levu. Thanks to the road network around Viti Levu and the domestic flights linking the other islands, it is relatively easy to get around Fiji, visiting several points in a single trip. You can even travel by boat around islands that have no roads!

Weather and Climate

Fiji has a tropical climate, and as such, the weather really can change quickly! On the surface, the cool trade winds over our summer months make it a popular time of year to visit. However, this is typically when the water is coolest (23-26C). As such, many divers prefer Fiji over our winter months (when you have higher chances of rainfall), when the viz is better and there tends to be a bit more big fish life. Typical water temps Dec-Mar are 27-30C

Flight options

There are several routes to Fiji, with a total flying time of around 20 hours. Air New Zealand, Quantas, Cathay Pacific and Singapore airlines are the most common flight options. Most routings will require the final leg of your journey to be completed on a Fiji Airways code share flight. You will generally by flying overnight in both directions. We are able to book most major airlines. If you have a specific airline you prefer to fly with, simply let us know in your booking request. A supplement may apply for regional departures. Times and any applicable supplements will be confirmed by your travel consultant before you finalise your holiday. If you wish to make your own flight arrangements to Nadi, Fiji, let us know and we can remove the cost of the international flights from your quote. Popular stop over destinations include Hong Kong, Singapore or Australia. Please speak to your travel consultant if you would like to add a few days in any of these locations and we will be able to adapt your flight routing accordingly.
