Sentani Bungalow
A spacious double room - ideal for 1-2 guests. The Sentani bungalow (60m2) offers you all the comfort you need with splendid ocean views.
Sorido Bay Resort is situated next to one of the most amazing dive sites in Raja Ampat, Cape Kri. This is one of Indonesia's most remote diving resorts where mind blowing Pelagic encounters accompany the incredible reef diving and splendid Macro life. This house reef is where Dr. G. Allen recorded 374 different species of fish during ONE dive making this the richest dive site known to science, but also the richest house reef anywhere! Built and owned by the pioneering Max Ammer, Sorido Bay Resort is a low-impact resort, designed to blend in with the surroundings. Natural local materials, local craftsmen and traditional design create eco-friendly accommodation striking a balance between traditional and modern. There is no where on earth quite like Raja Ampat - discover it from the lap of island luxury.
There are 2 room grades at Sorido Bay - the Sentani bungalows and Kaimana Villa. The Kaimana Villas are larger with a living room area. Each room is decorated and furnished in Papuan style using local artefacts and is equipped with air-conditioning, hot showers, television and refrigerator. These spacious Bungalows are built on the seashore with beach access and provide a simply stunning view over this gorgeous bay. Soak up the view from your private sun deck. There is even a free laundry service! Built by divers for divers, Sorido Bay Resort is very photographer friendly. In each bungalow there is a 60 x 330 cm bench for camera work with good light, built-in sink, and 110V and 220V electricity outlets. The ever-helpful staff transport cameras to and from the jetty.
Sorido Bay Resort was built maintaining most of the original trees and bushes and because of this, the buildings are integrated into nature and partly hidden by lush vegetation. The whole area is literally carpeted with ground orchids and there are lots of birds (some even nesting!) within the resort grounds. The main building at Sorido Bay Resort houses the lobby, office, restaurant, kitchen, storage rooms, library/computer-internet room/souvenir shop, as well as a mini museum of Max's WWII artefacts. Sorido Bay Resort has a spacious dining area, bar and relaxation area with splendid view over the bay where Wi-Fi is available to the guests.

Indonesia is around 15-20 hours flight from the UK and is made up of around 19 000 islands. It is the largest archipelago in the world straddling the Equator, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Most travellers will enter Indonesia through Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS) or Manado (MDC) airports.
This is the stuff of divers' dreams. This exotic nation is the very definition of bio diversity. Find the big fish in Komodo, Raja Ampat or Kalimantan. Drift lazily along the walls of Bunaken and Wakatobi, watching turtles on coral drenched walls. While away the hours hunting for miniscule macro in Bali, Lembeh or Ambon. Cannot decide? Why not combine two locations into a single trip!

Indonesia is a vast country, and the weather can be hugely variable. The topography means that weather patterns can be very localised. This is the tropics! For Bali, Komodo & Wakatobi the weather is usually best from April - November, with July and August being some of the best months to visit. Between December and March the conditions can be a bit stormy. November to April is also the wettest month to visit Bunaken, Lembeh and Kalimantan but to a lesser degree than in other locations. October to April is historically the most popular time to dive in Raja Ampat.

The service has improved vastly, but there can still be last minute schedule changes. Please ensure you leave plenty of time for check in or transit between flights (usually 4 hours min). Domestic flights can typically only be booked with a 20kgs hold allowance as standard. Excess baggage must be paid for in Indonesian rupiah and costs around $2-$5 per kg per way. Due to local traffic and road conditions, land journey times can be difficult to predict. We recommend you take water with you and keep any essentials in your hand baggage to make your journey as comfortable as possible.
At the end of your holiday, your return transfer details will be advised locally. As of Feb 2015, the departure tax for all domestic and international flights is built into your flight ticket price.

In an ever shrinking world, scuba divers are always on the look out for that special somewhere for a resort diving holiday and it doesn't get much better than Raja Ampat in Indonesia. Raja Ampat boasts not only the impressive bio diversity so characteristic of Indonesian diving, but is also remote enough to truly feel like you have escaped to another world.
Papua Diving have been pioneering scuba diving in Raja Ampat longer than anyone else and with over a decade of experience, no one knows the waters quite like this team. The house reef is a major attraction. This is the richest house reef of the world, holding the world record count by Dr. G. Allen of 374 different species. Having personally discovered many of the dive sites you will visit, these dive professionals live and breathe the underwater world. The majority of diving on offer is reef diving (often in combination with current/drift). But on request there is can muck diving, wall, wreck (P47 WWII airplane which is a deep dive), cavern (not always possible and depends on crocodile sightings), fluo, black water (Sorido Bay resort only).
The dive boats run with a maximum of 6 divers and minimum 2 guides (average diver to guide ratio underwater: 3/1). Divers are typically allocated to boats based on certification level & experience. From Sunday to Friday, every day there are 2 dives in the morning + 1 dive in the afternoon + optional dusk or night dive. On Friday evening there is no night diving and Saturday day-time no guided boat diving is offered. Guests that want to dive on Saturday can dive from the resort jetty on the house reef unguided (buddy team mandatory).
The normal daily boat departures dive sites in a range of 15 Km from the island, covering approximately 30 different locations. The travel time by boat is between 1 & 20 min. The special trips are half & full day boat excursions (additional fuel surcharge to pay locally) we operate in a range of approximately 60 Km around our island for a total of +100 different dive sites.
Sardines reef is quite simply one of the best reef dives in the world, where divers witness the phenomenal diversity of Raja Ampat at full force. Where the current strikes this offshore reef and splits, a dazzling array of fish congregate, audibly swarming fusiliers spin above, pursued by huge giant trevallies, packs of Bluefin jacks and huge Spanish mackerels. Batfish gather in the hundreds, while multitudes of schooling bannerfish feed in the current. Grey reef sharks, blacktips and whitetips can also be seen along with the wobbegong waiting in ambush on the sea floor. Coral bommies dot the slope covered with many colourful species of dendronephya soft corals and up to three separate species of Pygmy seahorses can be found amongst them. On the current-swept reef top a resident school of thirty massive bumphead parrotfish crunch on the coral, keeping the divers company on a safety stop who hang from their reef-hooks like kites in the wind.
From Wobbegong sharks to tiny 2cm Denise Pygmy seahorses. The reef top is covered in hard coral with some big coral heads and some tabling Acropora corals well over 3 metres across. There is a resident school of Big eye Trevallies and many large Barracuda. Green Turtles can be found here as well as Black Tips, White Tips and the occasional Grey Reef Sharks. If you are very lucky even a Giant Manta Ray. The magnificent dive ends with a blue water safety stop drifting over and away from the reef.
There are two main manta sites just half an hour away. One, Manta Sandy, is a cleaning station where up to 10 mantas can be seen vying for a position above the two rocks where wrasses clean these giants. We get enormous 4 meter wide black mantas, looking like a negative photographic image, their gills are highlighted in white, along with the other more common white-bellied variety. Another site nearby, Manta Slope, mantas circle above in the sun while divers hook onto the reef while the current arcs overhead and down the steep slope below. Divers can be caught unaware while giant demonic-looking black mantas cruise by behind them. This trip is out of our 10km range, but is offered once a week without any fuel surcharges!
This is a place where experienced divers and photographers enjoy the utterly different experience of diving in this truly one-of-a-kind location. Above water the sheer limestone cliffs make this a place where the sightseeing above water is also excessively beautiful. Guests combine this trip visiting the labyrinthine Hidden Bay, a maze of towering islets, and Kabui Bay where literally hundreds of mushroom islands create staggering scenery. This trip is out of our 10km range, but is offered once a week without any fuel surcharges!

Cape Kri
Skill level: All levels | Ave Depth: 20m | Max Depth: 38mCape Kri is the Sordio Bay house reef. This is the dive site that put Raja Ampat on the map when Dr Gerry Allen smashed his record for total number of fish species on a single tank dive: 374 different species! At the Northeast point of Kri island the currents sweep into a channel between Kri and the small island of Koh. At this point beneath waters churning in the current, huge schools of Big-eye trevallies, Barracudas and Snappers can be seen hanging over the drop-off. At the base of the reef at 38 meters an ancient snagged anchor rests next to a bommie with a dense school of Banded sweetlips. A large shallow coral garden crowns the reef top with blacktip reef sharks patrolling amongst the overlapping maze of hard corals with feeding hawksbill turtles. Car-sized Queensland groupers down to the diminutive ever-present pygmy seahorse can be seen on this phenomenal and always-surprising dive site! Dawn and dusk are feeding time so divers can experience this site at its awe-inspiring best
