Lembeh Resort

The Lembeh Resort is a boutique-style diver’s retreat located on Lembeh Island itself, at the heart of one of North Sulawesi’s most celebrated dive regions. Life here revolves around the underwater world, with the resort especially popular amongst underwater photographers and macro enthusiasts. From world-famous muck and critter diving to blackwater encounters, bonfire dives and surprisingly vibrant wide-angle opportunities, Lembeh Resort delivers one of the most rewarding diving experiences in Indonesia. Diving in the Lembeh Strait is truly second to none.

There are three accommodation categories at Lembeh Resort: six Garden View Rooms, thirteen Premium Cottages and the exclusive Cliffside Villa. All rooms feature air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms with open-air showers, king-size double or twin beds, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge, water dispenser and electronic safe. The thirteen Premium Cottages are either tucked into the hillside overlooking the bay or positioned close to the pool area, each offering upgraded furnishings and spectacular sunset sea views.
The Garden View Rooms are set amongst the resort’s tropical gardens close to the dive centre. Smaller than the cottages and sharing a veranda, they are a comfortable and convenient choice, particularly for solo travellers.
For the ultimate stay, the Cliffside Villa enjoys the finest position in the resort, with breathtaking views across the Lembeh Strait. Featuring a spacious bedroom, lounge area, private pool and terrace, together with personalised room service and dedicated butler service, it offers a truly indulgent retreat between dives.

In 2026 the team proudly unveiled their brand-new purpose-built dive centre, perfectly positioned on the waterfront beside the boats, camera room and rinse facilities. Designed with photographers and serious divers in mind, the centre offers dedicated storage space for every guest, with ample room for equipment preparation and drying. Warm showers and changing facilities ensure comfort throughout the day. Alongside the dive centre is the Backscatter authorised photo centre, unique within Lembeh and a major attraction for underwater photographers. Resident photo professionals are always on hand, while an extensive range of equipment is available to rent. Whether you are testing new gear or replacing equipment during your stay, expert support is never far away.

When you are not underwater, Lembeh Resort is the perfect place to relax and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy a chilled drink at the rooftop bar as the sun sets over the bay, or savour a delicious mix of local and international cuisine in the restaurant, with all meals included within your holiday package. Fresh pastries and homemade breads are served at breakfast, buffet lunches offer plenty of choice, and evenings feature relaxed à la carte dining in a beautiful tropical setting.

Lembeh Resort also warmly welcomes non-divers and snorkellers, with plenty to enjoy away from the dive boats. The spa was completely rebuilt in 2025 and now features two treatment rooms with dual massage beds for couples’ treatments, ensuite shower facilities, and a separate manicure and pedicure area overlooking a tranquil indoor pond. Beyond the resort, guests can explore the island itself or visit nearby Tangkoko National Park to discover North Sulawesi’s fascinating wildlife. Above and below the water, Lembeh Resort promises an unforgettable Indonesian dive holiday.

Combining the dramatic walls of Bunaken with the extraordinary critter diving of Lembeh creates an exceptional twin-centre itinerary, and Siladen Resort is the perfect complement to a stay at Lembeh Resort. Guests can even enjoy a boat transfer with diving between the two locations, avoiding a lengthy overland journey whilst experiencing the remarkable transition between Lembeh’s rich muck diving habitats and the spectacular reef walls and marine life of Bunaken.

Frequently Asked Questions

Location

Indonesia is around 15-20 hours flight from the UK and is made up of around 19 000 islands. It is the largest archipelago in the world straddling the Equator, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Most travellers will enter Indonesia through Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS) or Manado (MDC) airports. This is the stuff of divers' dreams. This exotic nation is the very definition of bio diversity. Find the big fish in Komodo, Raja Ampat or Kalimantan. Drift lazily along the walls of Bunaken and Wakatobi, watching turtles on coral drenched walls. While away the hours hunting for miniscule macro in Bali, Lembeh or Ambon. Cannot decide? Why not combine two locations into a single trip!

Weather and Climate

Indonesia is a vast country, and the weather can be hugely variable. The topography means that weather patterns can be very localised. This is the tropics! For Bali, Komodo & Wakatobi the weather is usually best from April - November, with July and August being some of the best months to visit. Between December and March the conditions can be a bit stormy. November to April is also the wettest month to visit Bunaken, Lembeh and Kalimantan but to a lesser degree than in other locations. October to April is historically the most popular time to dive in Raja Ampat.

The service has improved vastly, but there can still be last minute schedule changes. Please ensure you leave plenty of time for check in or transit between flights (usually 4 hours min). We recommend you take water with you and keep any essentials in your hand baggage to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

Lembeh Resort house reef

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 8 | Max Depth: 30

The house reef is a shore dive, which can be dived any time. A sand and sea grass bed in the shallows at 2-7 meters leads on to a coral slope from 8-15 meters depth. Maximum depth is 25 meters. At 15 meters there are some artificial reefs which attract additional life. The house reef can be easily self-guided by means of a buoy system, which starts from 2 meters, continues down to 15 meters and brings you right back to shore Here you can be expected to see Pinnate Batfish, Ribbon Eel, Pygmy Sea Dragon and Hairy Goby. With corals also in the shallows, the house reef also offers many discoveries for snorkelers.

Hairball 1, 2 and 3

Skill level: Guided | Ave Depth: 16 | Max Depth: 30

This is one of the most famous of the muck sites in the Strait. The sandy slope here is exceptionally rich. The position on a point means that the mix of currents brings more nutrients than on most other nearby sites. A sandy slope to 30 meters with scattered reef in the shallows and at the far north end of the dive site. Here you can be expected to see Hairy Frogfish, Long Arm Octopus, Leafy Filefish, Emperor Snapper and Flamboyant Cuttlefish

Among the critters you can see here are: Banggai Cardinal Fish, Baramundi Cod, Painted Frogfish, Bigfin Squid and Harlequin Shrimp

Critter Hunt

Skill level: Guided | Ave Depth: 15 | Max Depth: 25

This dive site has a self-explanatory name and it is a lovely dive site, which offers some spectacular critters sightings. Angels window

Skill level: Guided | Ave Depth: 10 | Max Depth: 30

A twin-peaked coral pinnacle comes within a meter of the surface. A large cave offers a swim-through for divers on the deep end of the pinnacle. This site got its name from the sunlight that shines through the cave opening in the early morning. One side is a coral slope leveling out onto a sand flat at 15 meters and on the other side is a wall to a shelf at 8 meters, then a small plateau and another drop-off, down to 20-32 meters. Here you can see: Bargibanti Pygmy Seahorse, Xeno Crab, Bubble Coral Shrimp, Reef Octopus, giant Frogfish, Leaf Scorpion Fish

Rojos

Skill level: Guided | Ave Depth: 5 | Max Depth: 30

ROJOS is named for our dive guides and crew that found the site while exploring. This includes Ronald, Opo, Joni, Ona, and Salmon. The site is a mix of coral, sandy slope, and sandy bottom. This site is near a pearl farming area. Mimic Octopus, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Long Arm Octopus, Fingered Dragonet, Randall Frogfish can be seen on this site.

Nudi Falls

Skill level: Guided | Ave Depth: 8 | Max Depth: 30

Nudi Falls is named after the fact that the some of the numerous nudibranchs on the wall were seen falling down. One of the most popular sites in the Strait. It consists of a beautiful sheer wall with a rocky slope below, then a sandy slope, levelling out into the main channel of rubble sprouting a deep forest of large soft corals. Scenically, this site is unlike any other in the Strait. Here you want to be looking for painted frogfish, bluering octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, pygmy seadragen and of course nudibanchs.
