About Fushifaru Maldives

On the north eastern edge of Lhaviyani atoll sits the exquisite island resort of Fushifaru. We love this resort, with it's traditional, yet classy, Maldivian vibe. It's perfect for couples looking to get away from it all, and hide out in a beach or water villas. Fushifaru is more than just a resort to relax in. It is a gateway to a legendary atoll, hosting famous and fast moving dives between the two channels connecting the atoll's inner lagoon to the outer sea.

Your home at Fushifaru will be one of the resort's 49 beach and water villas. The aesthetic here merges quintessential Maldivian design and architecture with modern decor. Sunrise side, there are 11 beach villas (96sqm) and 7 pool beach villas (122sqm). On the sunset side of the island are 15 beach villas and 10 pool beach villas. Or spoil yourself with one of the 5 water villas - these are the same side as the beach villas, but the views are divine. The sunrise Villas look out towards "Maakandu", the wild open Indian Ocean while the Sunset Villas look out towards "Etherevari", the calm crystal clear lagoon and the Water Villas face "Kandu-olhi", the vibrant channel.

The resort offers a range of meal and drink plans to suit every taste and budget. Whilst we recommend booking at least half board, full board , all inclusive and premium all inclusive options are available. Savour mouth-watering dishes at one of the two resort restaurants or enjoy in villa dining 24hrs. Rejuvenate your body and mind at Heylhi Spa.

If you are more musically inclined, try your hand at playing the boduberu drum or book yourself . For the more adventurous traveller, hop on a Dhoni or a luxury yacht and join the many activities that Best Dives Fushifaru can offer such as, scuba diving, snorkelling, turtle quest, local island visit, sandbank excursion and many more. Just a few minutes away by boat from the island is Fushifaru Kandu, a Marine Protected area teeming with diverse marine life, unique cave formations, a manta cleaning station and much more; a true haven for diving enthusiasts and snorkellers alike.

    Weather and Climate

Whilst there are 2 monsoon seasons (Nov-Apr & May-Oct), the diving remains excellent year round. Diving operators will changes their dive sites in each season to find the best hot spots for the big fish! Traditionally, our summer months tend to be windier with a higher chance of rain, whilst the winter months are flatter. However, the seasons are much less predictable in reality and its a fabulous place to dive whatever time of year!

They will be holding a board with either your destination or your name on it. If you have any issues at all locating your rep, please turn left from arrivals and go to the information desk at Male airport. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.

Big Nose Unicorn fish are of special interest as they play overhead in divers bubbles.

    Bodu Giri

Skill level: All levels | Ave Depth: 10m | Max Depth: 20m

Completely protected from the strong currents, Bodu Giri offers an abundance of life. It is a large shallow underwater island where you can encounter thousands of Blue-striped Snappers, Yellow-back and Neon Fusiliers across, and around the reef as they use it as protection from the hunting Jacks and Tuna. Amongst the coral gardens find Moorish idols, Oriental Sweet lips, Coral groupers, hiding in the overhangs and holes keep an eye out for painted rock lobsters as they hide.

    Fushifaru Corner

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 12m | Max Depth: 25m

This rich area is the home to Turtles, Puffer fish Lobsters and Leaf Fish. Stingrays and White tip Reefs sharks can be found deeper at around 25 meters.

    Fushifaru Thila

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 15m | Max Depth: 25m

The Fushifaru Thila sits as the main attraction in the channel of Fushifaru Kandu. Sitting proud at about 150 metres long and 50 metres wide rising to about 10 metres. The entire channel has been declared as Protected Marine Area. The Thila lies near the edge of the atoll close to the centre of the channel that separates the reefs of Fushifaru and Madhiriguraidhoo Faru. The shallowest points are around 16 metres in depth at both ends. Discover the many cleaner wrasse stations all over the reef whilst Manta rays commonly visit during the dive. Schools of hump back and blue striped snappers, fusiliers, giant trevally, oriental sweet lips and barracuda are often found around the Thila.

    Shipyard

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 18m | Max Depth: 30m

East of Felivaru Kandu, between the islands of Felivaru and Gaaerifaru lies two wrecks from the Felivaru factory. One sits with its bow section on the top of the reef, while the second wreck lies 40 metres away on its port side at 28 metres. Soft and hard corals have made the wrecks their home along with plenty of moray, yellow sweepers, boxfish, pufferfish, porcupinefish, napoleon and so much more. Find Moray here of many different varieties. Surrounding the reef are schools of Humpback snappers and Oriental sweet lips

    Fushifaru Kandu

Skill level: Advanced | Ave Depth: 14m | Max Depth: 30m

A large deep channel with a sandy bottom. If the current is small it is possible to cross, and the rewards can be amazing. Eagle rays pass in formation with the occasional Silvertip shark and families of Grey Reef sharks. Schools of Jacks and Rainbow runners fill the void of the channel with Barracuda and Napoleon wrasse. If the conditions are right this is an incredible dive and not one to be missed.
