This is a boutique hotel, where the emphasis is on personal service and total relaxation deep in the north of the Maldives. It is also an ideal spot to extend your holiday after the a liveaboard.

The Barefoot Eco hotel is a 4 star option with only 64 rooms. There are 20 beach front rooms, with a further 20 Ocean view rooms set above. From Alternatively, there are 12 new Seaside rooms. The rooms are around 50sqm. From November 2022 12 beachside rooms will be on offer, located to the North of the resort, sitting back from the beach for additional privacy. There havec contemporary amenities, including a spacious private patio equipped with a Maldivian swing.

Each of the 64 rooms at Barefoot Eco hotel is modern and stylishly finished, with a mini bar, air con, tea & coffee making facilities and safe. The Beach front rooms open straight out onto the resort's private beach whilst the Ocean View rooms boast incredible vistas onto the turquoise lagoon. Both the Ocean view and Beach front room grades have interconnecting options - ideal for families or friends who would prefer a shared space.

The whole resort has been created to have minimal impact on this undeveloped, local island and the ethos of sustainability and conservation underpins everything the resort does. The resort boasts an on site conservation centre, staffed with resident marine biologists. This is brilliant choice for snorkellers. Looking for relaxation? Head to the spa. Daily yoga lessons are also for free. Volleyball, bowls court, library, board games and evening biology lessons are also available. Organise a kayak tour if you are feeling more active (local charges apply). Twice a week, a snorkelling tour by boat  on the house reef is offered.Grab a bike to explore the island. The resort grows a lot of their own organic ingredients and the homemade pizza and ice cream are a must whilst in resort. Meals are served in the ocean view restaurant whilst you can enjoy a sun downer on the "Black Pearl", the floating bar. And with free wifi, you can torment your friends and family with the blissful views.

Weather and Climate

Whilst there are 2 monsoon seasons (Nov-Apr & May-Oct), the diving remains excellent year round. Diving operators will changes their dive sites in each season to find the best hot spots for the big fish! Traditionally, our summer months tend to be windier with a higher chance of rain, whilst the winter months are flatter. However, the seasons are much less predictable in reality and its a fabulous place to dive whatever time of year!

Sri Lanka is our most popular, up coming destination - with beautiful beaches, it's a great alternative to staying in the Maldives resorts. The choice is yours! As we are able to book most major airlines to the Maldives, you can also add a stop to break up your flight. Popular locations include Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.
