The days begin with a morning dive at 6am, mid morning at around 11am and then an afternoon dive around 3pm. For non-divers, some of the best snorkelling in the world can be enjoyed in the clear waters over a variety of dazzling coral walls that are home to schools of brightly coloured tropical fish. In deeper waters, divers can expect to encounter manta rays, turtles, sharks and even the possibility of the world's largest fish, the whale shark.

As the boat docks in Raa atoll, you will be welcomed to your new home for the next 3 nights - the Carpe Diem Resort. Your trip will depart from either Male or Carpe Diem resort (Raa atoll)

Trip Duration
The cruise and stay is presently offered as a 7 night holiday in total, with either 4 nights on board your Carpe liveaboard and 3 nights at the resort or 4 nights in resort followed by 3 nights on the liveaboard.

The below outlines the liveaboard plus resort option

Arrival - starting on your liveaboard
Your trip departs from Male you will be met on arrival from your international flight and taken directly to the boat. This will take approx 20 mins by boat.

There will be a full welcome briefing on arrival and you can set your kit up. If you have prebooked any rental equipment this will be given to you on arrival. There is then your first dinner and you can settle in for the evening.

You do not usually dive on your arrival day.

North Male Atoll
The check dive starts the diving fun for the week and where better than at Lankan Manta Point? This is usually the first of many manta dives to come during this week! This is a cleaning station, but keep your eyes peeled behind you. Eagle rays quite often pass on the edge of the slope.

The boat will offer 3 dives a day as it makes its way from Male to Raa atoll. The exact sites offered will be chosen by the experienced team on board and reflect the seasonal hotspots through the atoll chains.

There is usually an opportunity for a night dive during the week. The boat operators may elect to substitute a dive with an opportunity to snorkel with manta or whalesharks instead, if the opportunity arises.

Carpe Diem Resort - Raa Atoll
On the pristine house reef you can discover 98 types of coral that are home to over 220 species of marine life. 3 house reef dives each day are included and you can easily upgrade to one of the scheduled boat dives for a small local surcharge. Learn about coral conservation with our marine biologist at the coral nursery.

Hanivaru - Baa Atoll
This is a local excursion, you may wish to add on for a supplement in resort.

The aim of the day is to look for the massive manta congregations. There will be 2 dives made but you can also snorkel with the manta in the lagoons just as easily as dive (max 8m). Due to the thick plankton, this is also a great chance to find whalesharks.

There is a local charge for snorkelling at Hanivaru - the park fee of 20 USD pp for 45 minutes of snorkeling (diving is not allowed), which must be paid directly to the park rangers

You will normally leave the resort after breakfast on your last day. Depending your flight times you may have a seaplane or domestic flight transfer back to Male. Please do speak to the travel consultant at the time of booking to confirm the exact last day arrangements.

Alternatively, why not add an extension at one of the many beautiful resorts in the Maldives or even a second liveaboard.
