Hidden in the sleepy village of East End, Grand Cayman, you will find the dedicated dive resort Compass Point and Ocean Frontiers. Together this indomitable duo offer a relaxing ambience with the convenience of your own private jetty, dive centre and access to world class Caribbean reefs. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle of the larger Caymans resorts and discover a tranquil private beach and diving that will astound far from the crowds.

Compass Point is made up of 28 apartments with pool or ocean views. There are 1 bed or 2 bed apartments, all with en suite, a fully equipped kitchen, entertainment system in the living area and a jacuzzi jet bath. All rooms are non smoking. The decor matches the laid back Caribbean style of the whole resort. As a self catering option, you have total freedom. Try out the BBQ pits. But no fear if you don't fancy cooking every night! A short walk or drive and you can pick from a huge range of wonderful eateries - try Miss Vivines Kitchen for a taste of the local cuisine or a local fave Lighthouse at Breakers which is as famed for its grill as much as extensive wine list. We can arrange car rental as part of your trip.

The Compass Point is really focused on divers but if you are taking a day off or non diver, while away the hours in the sun on the secluded beach. When the temperature soars a hammock awaits in a shady spot. Feeling more active? Grab a bike or kayak to go exploring. Or why not try your hand at kite surfing. The school can show you how with lessons available (paid locally). There is never a dull moment. Kick back and enjoy the tranquil setting where adventure is on your doorstep.

Also has a compact fidge with separate freezer. Our two bedroom oceanfront condos and our one bedroom deluxe poolside condos are all equipped with a full size kitchen: full size stove with 4-ring cook top with oven, microwave, blender and utensils to cook a full meal. Location

The Caymans is around 480 miles south of Miami. The main island, Grand Cayman is a vibrant mix of modern living at island pace. Relax during the day on one of the beaches or enjoying the diving and snorkelling before you head out into the town to try the islands many bars and restaurants. Weather and Climate

Summer is mid-May to October and is a hot, rainy season. Our winter months (Nov-Apr) are dry and mild. Air temps peak at around 30C in August, dropping to around 25C in Jan and Feb. August water temps can be as high as 30C, but is between 27-28 for most of the year.

Travel

Flight options

On certain dates BA operate a direct flight from London to the Grand Cayman. This takes around 12 hours. f you are not able to travel direct, then flights typically route through the USA. You may require an overnight en route depending on flight times. All passengers transiting through the USA must have a valid ESTA before travel. If you wish to make your own flight arrangements to Grand Cayman, let us know and we can remove the cost of the international flights from your quote. We are unfortunately not able to redeem airmiles on your behalf. Please do not confirm any flight arrangements yourself before your holiday is confirmed by us.

Stopovers

If you are transiting through the States, you can enjoy a stop over. This would usually be in Miami.

Regular Entry Requirements

UK passport holders are able to obtain a 90 day visa on entry to the Caymans. Please ensure your passport has 6 months validity from your return date to prevent any issues with immigration. if your flights transit through the USA, you MUST have a valid ESTA or visa before travel. It is your responsibility to ensure your passport is valid and you fulfil entry requirements. Previous travel to certain countries (eg Cuba, Sudan) will exclude you from the ESTA programme and you will need to apply for a visa before travel. Insurance

Scuba Travel requires all of our customers to have diving insurance. Please make sure that you have appropriate cover for your diving activities. We also strongly recommend you have travel insurance. It's worth taking out travel insurance once you have paid your deposit to ensure you are covered for unforeseen events and cancellation.

Immunisations

Your covid proof of vaccination must match your passport name and flight ticket name. Please speak to your local GP or check out the latest NHS advice on updating your NHS details or for other travel immunisations: click here to go to the NHS

Preparing to fly

Seating

You will be able to manage your booking online once you have been ticketed (after you have paid your holiday balance). Most airlines will now enable you to select your seating at this point. There may be a small charge for prebookable seating before online check in opens. Please speak to the airline for more information about charges.

Check in

What happens when I arrive?

On arrival please make your way through baggage claim and immigration. There will either be a rep to meet you with further instructions or you will have full details of your car hire in your travel documents. If you have any issues on arrival, please contact us. We have an emergency contact, manned by a member of the team here in the UK. Please call 0044 7747 488 002. We will be able to help your rep locate you in the airport.

Transfers

Local regulations mean that we are not able to include transfers in the cost of your holiday. Where possible, they will be co-ordinated for you on arrival, to pay locally. Certain resorts offer car hire as part of your package. Full instructions will be in your travel documentation.

Departures

You will be advised locally of your transfer times/ final arrangements at the end of your holiday. The departure tax is around $30.

Tipping

Tipping is entirely at your discretion. We do not make recommendations as to how much to tip. Should you wish to leave a tip for the staff and crew, it should reflect the level of service you have enjoyed.

Currency

USD are widely accepted in the Caymans, along with Cayman Island dollar. Mastercard and visa are accepted, but please be aware you may be charge a local surcharge on card payments

Phone coverage

Phone coverage is generally good, but please remember to check with your phone provider about any charges. 3G signal is also fairly reliable

Deposits and Balances

A typical deposit for a holiday to the Caymans is £500-£800 per person, although this will depend on your exact flight option and travel class. Larger deposits may be required for some flight options (eg premium economy/business class)

Ways to pay

We accept mastercard and visa debit or credit cards. If you would like a pay by link to complete check out via email please let us know and it can be set up for you. We do not take AMEX. All non sterling card payments and UK business debit cards will be subject to the 3% surcharge. Alternatively, you are welcome to pay via bank transfer. Overseas bank transfers must add £8 to the sterling total to cover international handling fees. We are not able to accept PayPal transactions or personal cheques.

Group Payments

If you have booked as part of a group, you can still call and pay directly without needing to go via your group leader. Please have your trip reference number to hand to help us locate your holiday as quickly as possible. You will receive a transaction receipt - your group leader will forward your ATOL certificate and booking confirmation

This dive zone runs along the North coast of Grand Cayman from the edge of the town 'Old Man Bay' through 'Little Bluff Bay'. This zone is approximately a 30 minute boat ride from Ocean Frontiers dive shop and is frequented most in the summer months when the South East winds prevail and often create flat calm seas in this area. The wall dives in this area are characterized by their shallow starting depths of 40 ft and the vertical sheer drop offs. Queen's Highway (12 dive sites)

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 20 | Max Depth: 30

This dive zone runs parallel to the Queen's Highway and covers 3 miles of Cayman's reefs and walls, boasting some of our favourite sites. This zone is approximately a 20 minute boat ride from Ocean Frontiers dive shop. In this area the visibility can reach up to 150 ft, offering some of the clearest waters you will find in the world. The wall dives typically start at 60 ft and with large outcroppings on the edge of the drop off, attracting lots of marine life. Colliers Bay (6 dive sites)

Skill level: Novice | Ave Depth: 20 | Max Depth: 30

The topography in this dive zone is unique to the East End of Grand Cayman. The zone is dominated by shallow reef cavern structures resembling giant swiss cheese. This area can be more exposed to the elements, but normally accessible most weeks for a shallow dive that can be the icing on your whole dive trip. The shallow reefs and caverns are full of marine life and always deliver an exhilarating dive. We always can tell by the look on a divers face after their first dive in the Colliers Bay Zone, and the first words out of their mouth as soon as they take the regulator out is can we come back here tomorrow? Named after the pronounced rocky shoreline that is also known for the famous 'Blowholes', is home to a list of iconic Cayman Islands dive sites. The special traits of the wall dives in this zone are the pinnacles. These majestic coral towers defy gravity itself and spire upwards from the depths of the Cayman Trench at the very edge of the drop off. Scuba divers are able to cruise along the wall and then out in to the blue to circle around these massive coral skyscrapers. This zone provides a staple diet of must see sites for even the most discerning diver's log book. The wall dives in this area are some of our most recently discovered and have only been opened up to dive boats in 2010. The shallow dives in this zone include many of our signature dives that have appeared in many scuba diving magazines and are sites that are always sought after whenever we have visiting journalists and photographers. Snorkel Boat Trips in the Cayman Islands

This zone is the melting pot of Cayman dive sites offering the best of everything all in one place- great wall dives and great reef dives, all within a 10 minute boat ride from Ocean Frontiers dive shop and dock. The wall dives in this area start at approximately 60ft and feature many canyon-ways and chutes that lead out on to the drop-off. This part of the wall is best known for seeing Caribbean Reef sharks and large groupers. The shallow dive sites in this zone offer a coral ledge or mini-wall with many canyons and archways that have cut in to the reef structure over the millennium. The shallow dives provide for a haven for countless tropical reef fish.

For guests at Compass Point Dive Resort you are spoilt for choice. Guests often take avantage of having a full kitchen in their condominium for some meals and do it yourself and turn up the heat on our commercial grade outdoor BBQ grills. Eagle Ray's Bar & Grill is on-site and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also several restaurants nearby, a different one for everyday of your trip.

Communal BBQ pit

As each condo is equipped with a kitchen, most guests cater some of their own meals We have two propane gas powered grills by the pool cabana and hot tub. Grill barefoot poolside under the stars. The commercial grade propane gas grills are located by the poolside building and offer a shaded cabana and area for food preparation. This area can easily accommodate families or small groups.

When you want to eat in your PJ's or just veg out in the comfort of your own space, the full Eagle Ray's menu can be delivered direct to your room door for lunch or dinner.
